No Respect

Last night I listened to a phone in on talk sport phone in and as expected it was all ManU the 2 clown presenters kept saying “ But it’s only Burnley “ so the Utd fans start saying it one pundit last week said we wouldn’t get the same points as Southampton Troy Deeney never a good word to say and thinks we are relegated now, on MOTD not a word it’s like the Premier League only has 19 teams in it they just have no respect for what we are i think some of them choke when they say the word BURNLEY. I hope we have enough points to stay up by January so they can all choke on their lack of respect UTC

It's very rare I hear someone who I think talks sense is also disrespectful towards Burnley. Level-headed pundits/commentators tend to at least have enough about them to put it across the right way if they think we'll struggle. Troy Deeney just comes across as someone who would have spent all his life in prison had it not been for football. Clueless and classless.

We're a small town club who is insignificant to people apart from our supporters. Very few Worldwide neutrals would switch on to watch our games, unless we're playing one of the big boys of course.

All we can do is to try and amass enough points to stick two fingers up at the Premier League and the pundits by gatecrashing their party..

Some of the people who sing "no one likes us, we don't care" are lying

Talksport is the radio version of clickbait. Only interested in the ‘big’ clubs as they define them. I don’t listen anymore for this reason.

Standard of punditry is also going down the pan, seems to be a trend of bringing former pros in that can barely string an intelligible sentence together; I’d have Deeney in that bracket. If it serves as motivation then great, otherwise best not to pay too much attention!

We get no respect from the officials either which is the biggest issue. How we can end the season with multiple football league defensive records and then get the experts dismissing us so readily and comparing us to a team that almost broke the record low points from the previous season having come through the playoffs (having conceded more than 3 times as many goals as us at Championship level).

Must admit, MOTD was very disappointing last night.
I don't mind Mark Chapman, but he never referred to the game once from our point of view, I realise it's probably not his doing, probably the producers, but I expected a few words along the lines of "well, that's from the United perspective, what about Burnley?" But no, everything was about Man U.

Poor.

Just a load of Chelsea fans, basically.

Nothing's changed.
I remember as a lad that even when we were more than a match for United with all their great names, the likes of the Daily Mirror gave us scant credit.
It's not surprising in this world of world wide coverage and click bait that we can't compete.
The answer's simple: F*** 'em.

All zi heard was Dion 'MU' Dublin extolling the virtues of MU and supporting any decision which went for them or against us. Went right down in my view of him.

On Saturday morning there was a graphic on Sky Sports showing the top points scorers for Fantasy football and there was Josh Cullen on 16 points, the 4th highest for the week but he didn't get a single mention in a long discussion where they talked about virtually everyone else on the graphic.

I think you can get an idea of how fashionable a club is from this table. We're clearly not despite our much vaunted signing videos which probably skew the numbers a bit:

Subscribers on youtube 01/09/25:

Liverpool 11.8m
Man Utd 10.3m,
Man City 8.6m
Chelsea 6.0m
Arsenal 4.8m
Spurs 4.2m
Everton 921k
Newcastle 854k
Wolves 794k
Brighton 772k
West Ham 742k
Villa 719k
Leeds United 480k
Palace 358k
Fulham 315k
Forest 267k
Brentford 258k
Bournemouth 221k
Burnley 180k
Sunderland 140k

Clearly if you want punters to listen then you're better off talking about Liverpool or the two Manchester clubs. To put things into context, the total for every club outside the top 6 in that list is 6.1m.

I think Instagram and X might be a better thing to go off but mad how little some of the even bigger clubs have

It’s all about soundbites and edginess now. Controversy to ramp up the clicks. Lazy views by people who have little interest beyond the big teams.

Those seasons under Dyche where we continually rammed their words back down their throats were delicious, but it’s a totally different landscape now.

Spot on Tackler,
I dont have sky or any other outlet , and the radio is awash with ex arsenal pundits and their fetid bias.
I watched MOTD and it was nothing short of a disgrace. As you mentioned, its as if we dont exist.
BBC when all said and done, we deserve far better. Im not interested whether "most fans" are only bothered about top six etc, Burnley are in this division on merit, and broadcasters should reflect that on a mainstream programme. Shameful of them to be so apathetic. The post match analysis obviously covered utd's goals, but our goals were only shown to highlight where united could have done better in preventing them.
Putrid coverge, unfair, and amateurish by what used to be an iconcic saturday night football show.

Thanks for all your replies to my thread i thought that i was becoming a “Grumpy Old Man” but it’s good to see that others fans think the same, even the likes of Wrexham get better comments than we do,one pundit even said that DL ran away Championship last season without a mention about us what s***heads. If we stay up this season it will great to be able to stick up two fingers/middle finger to those who show us No Respect UTC
