It is always good when you play one of the "big clubs" and you get a ref who doesn't have a history of siding with them and getting big decisions wrong.....

I know that it's not a very high bar, but Oliver has refereed 25 of our games and stands third overall in the rate the ref table with a score of over 73%, so I don't think that he can be as bad as some are suggesting in here. Anyone can get good scores for the odd game but he must have been generally good over so many games.
I have to admit, though, that for some reason it always worries me when he has the whistle.

It’s a free hit. You never know they might make a ridiculous decision in our favour, very unlikely I know, but well within the realms of possibility with that lot.

Liverpool fans aren’t exactly thrilled with it either.
His last game for them was the controversial last derby game at Goodison.
They still have a disdain for him following the Van Dijk incident with Pickford a few years ago.

LIke when they played Everton earlier this year and drew with Slot and his assistant Hulshoff, both being sent off at the end of the game along with Doucoure and Jones. Top team did not win and the ref got pilloried because he had played added time as designated and Tarks scored the equaliser.

You have to remember that Everton are also one of the founding members teams. Last derby at Goodison etc.

I agree with what you have said here Ashington he is far from Arrogant and actually a very nice bloke. Who in my opinion is probably the best we have in this country.
