I have been asked to post this by a close friend and Huddersfield Claret.
Fellow clarets
A lifetime claret fan Steve Russell sadly passed away suddenly after a short illness on 22nd August aged just 57. He had just begun his retirement adventure with his wife at the end of June. Steve was born in Nelson and followed the clarets all of his life.
At this Sundays game with Liverpool, please can we put our hands together on the 57th minute for a minute of applause to mark the sad passing of Steve, taken from his family and friends too soon!

I’m not being awkward here but that’s three now for Sunday. I know two other Clarets who have passed away since the last home game. That would make five if we did it for them.
Let’s go and watch football and pay our respects in January at the annual In Memoriam.

It’ll get to the stage where the opposition will score a goal whilst on of these minutes is actually happening (I’m sure we’ve been close to it happening)

I am sad to read of the loss of Steve. I too agree that the best way to pay our respects is at the Memorium.

Deepest condolences to the family- 57 is no age - and indeed to others who have lost loved ones but with all sensitivity to those who have lost, I'm with Tony. Save in the most extreme tragic circumstances (and I appreciate that is a difficult and subjective test because any loss is a tragedy to those close to the person who has passed) I think this is something that should be saved until the annual in memoriam day.

My best mate died at 57. Also a life long clarets fan. A very personal thing for me. I appreciated his addition to the annual turf memorial in January....but im with clarettony ...to impose it upon thousands unknown to him is unnecessary.

No one is imposing anything. Didn't know this guy but I always partake in recognising a fellow fan who's lost their life.
There is a lot of miserable individuals who want to complain regardless, they tend to be brothers in arms. Whether that be a quick remembrance clap (that you don't need to partake by choice) or if the club decide that you need to leave the ground in a different direction from the longside they just complain and they know best. If your views are different, they come together like it's their club and their rules.

I’m going to come across as a t*** to some, I know, but I don’t see one Clarets fan being any bigger or better than others. Sorry for this person’s friends and family but there is a specific game in January when people clap for all those that have passed in the previous year.
I can’t remember the season now, but one game years ago was a farce, and people must have clapped for 3-4 different fans, not knowing who they were. It’s different for ex players. Again, not trying to be disrespectful but I won’t be clapping on Sunday, I’m there for the game. RIP Steve.

I would rather there was nothing at the game. Ever. I go to watch football. No armistice last post in October either, because it’s our nearest date to Remembrance Sunday. I go to the appropriate place for that, which is not forced observance at a football stadium.
I wouldn’t even do it for ex players who have died, go to their funeral if you’re that bothered.
Only my opinion of course, yours may be different and you’re entitled to that.
