Half & half scarves banned…

West Ham have banned half & half scarves from their stadium on the weekend. Anyone turning up with one will have it confiscated, and not returned.

It’s to help stop spurs fans going in to home sections?? Apparently.

I can understand someone coming over from another County who wants a souvenir of the match they have saved up to travel and go to.

Then maybe something like a lower league fan that supports a premier league team and they end up playing each other in the cup.

To commemorate yours child’s first away game ?

I’d never get one but can understand why some people buy them

They're a long way down my list tbh, behind diving, VAR, crap pundits, sportswaahing owners, Richarlison, overpriced pies, FIFA, the Champions League, **** refs etc, etc.

The only people buying half and half scarves are harmless tourists, everyone knows that. If they really wanted to dissuade away fans from going in the home end they should have stayed at Upton Park.

It may be too early in the day, but I’m struggling to see how banning half scarfs stops Spurs fans in the home ends?

Because they buy two scarves then use a sharp knife to cut the West Ham bits off, sew the Spurs bits together and ‘viola’ they’ve got in with a Spurs scarf. So I suspect it’s the knives they’re worried about.

Some of the firms have been known to do this with a vertical bandsaw that they've managed to get into the ground. Lethal.

I’ve never bought one and don’t like them, the thought of having to look at some other club round my neck doesn’t feel right somehow. I’ve no gripe in people buying them, each to their own.

I wear one from our trip to the Shamrock Rovers friendly in 2017 to every game ... but wouldn't buy one for a league match ...

I wouldn't wear one - I don't even wear our own colours, but I really couldn't give a toss what others wear to a football match. I supposed it's a memento of the fixture, nevertheless, not really arsed.

So Shire Claret somebody from another county is ok.Maybe the sellers need to stock up for the Leeds game,so that their fans can have a memento of another win for the Super Clarets

I once got one when I had tickets in the Stretford end at Old Trafford. It was the only way I was going to get away with wearing my Burnley colours without getting punched.

The only time I'd consider buying one is if we played Barcelona or real Madrid in a competitive game.
Doubt I'll ever get one.

How nobody has "liked" this comment before now is the real crime. Made me snort-laugh. 🤣

I'm opposed to them domestically but I have two as keepsakes from other occasions.

My first one from Barcelona v Paris Saint Germain, Champions League Quarter Final in 2013, fortunate enough to get a ticket whilst there for my 40th birthday.

My second one is (a rather splendid silk style) from the Europa League Qualifier that Burnley played in İstanbul against Basaksehir. A very special night to me to say Burnley play European Football and be there.

They're treasured possession to me, so I can understand some others and their sentimental reasons to purchase one.
