Food that is completely 'wrong'

I'm not on about unhealthy, over processed foods but those that I cannot see the point of:

Aubergine - Has only a tasteless crap texture.
Anchovies- Why not use salt ? My cat wouldn't touch them.
Actually, any fish with bones.
Stuff that crawles.

Liver is a nutrient dense food. One of the best.

In a edible fashion maybe not so. People like different things I personally don't eat any offal but will happily munch away on vegetables & fruit we all like different things & whatever tastes good to 1 person shouldn't be discouraged. Everything can be good to the right person on a nutritional level.

I’m probably stepping on the toes of many a fellow northerner here, not to mention every single Burnley FC fans function since the year dot, but mushy peas. The smell, the taste, the texture, evil, disgusting, horrible, congealed things..

Tomatoes as well - I’ve tried, occasionally continue to try, but to date, I’ve failed. ‘Try one of these little cherry ones, they’re sweet and juicy’. They’re bloody not - like a spot bursting when those rancid little ******* burst in your mouth after a bite.

Agree, it's subjective, just saying it's not just (even if it is high in cholesterol) a cholesterol bomb. Bit of a marmite food, subjectively.

It’s incredible humans persisted with eating those in the past, not knowing if you’d get a nutritious snack, see the meaning of life in a mind bending vision, or have your liver dissolve and die a horrific death. For me, the taste wouldn’t have justified the risk. Feels wrong eating fungus.

Sweetcorn. It appears 24hrs later having gone on its happy journey through the body looking exactly as it did on the plate.
Any food that needs smothering with something else to taste good, in this case butter is pointless.
Hedontplayforyou is right on the money with mushrooms. Years of work canteens serving luke warm rubber in a bath of mud coloured water convinced me that they are pure evil.

I quite like guacamole, however the fact you have to mix it with garlic, chilli, lime juice, coriander, onion, and tomato to make it edible does somewhat prove your point

Anything coffee flavoured. The drink itself is awful but anything flavoured with it is ten times worse.

As a person that doesn't have a normal top to his stomach, anything that tastes bad second time around. From the list above, that includes sprouts, celery and tripe.

Add in anything that has a lump of fat still attached to it, cabbage (school dinner type. White/red cabbage is fine), pesto, salad dressing, garlic, smoked/uncooked salmon/fish/meat. All disgusting to get back in your mouth. There are lots of ice creams that seem lovely when you eat them, but I soon find out that they are actually pretty disgusting.

Also, I don't eat anything hot and runny. Why put something in your mouth that both feels and tastes like bad sick? That rules out gravy, hot custard, stews, hot drinks of all descriptions.

I love (proper, not instant) coffee, in fact I'm drinking one right now, but I am 100% on board with coffee flavoured things being vile.

See also banana flavoured things that don't use actual bananas.

You might as well just drink TCP and Germolene mixed in with lemonade to get the same effect.

Strangely, pigs in blankets. Deconstructed one once, and it looked like a dead man’s finger.

I like a lot of foods mentioned here as dislikes, such as cheese, kidneys, tomatoes, gravy, custard - but I agree with tofu, halloumi & sweetcorn. My top hates are lettuce, broccoli & most of all cucumber, accurately defined as a vegetable which should be thinly sliced, lightly seasoned and thrown away.

I hate peas any cooked peas but oddly I'm ok with raw fresh peas from the pod. I'm not sure what's worse, mushy or marrowfat.

I struggle with reheated tinned plum tomatoes, I mean way to go at turning something edible into something disgusting. I can't eat those little decorative half tomatoes that you get sometimes where they've been slightly warmed with a crumble on the top. They're almost as bad as slices of tomato on sandwiches that have been left in the sun or a hot car, when the skin starts to peal from the flesh. Other tomatoes are fine.

People get all enthusiastic about asparagus but honestly, it makes your pee smell unpleasant because it tastes unpleasant.

Liver is excellent nutrition-wise and I also enjoy it (fried with onions and just a bit of stock added) great with mash and broccoli. Lamb's the best variation for me, reasonably priced too.

Tripe/elder etc I can't eat though I remember the stalls selling such on the old Burnley market outside the old market hall being almost as popular as the black pudding stalls.

Can't even get close to some smelly seafood such as crab, lobster, scallops etc. Yuk.

I'll eat, and have eaten, pretty much everything stated on here without issues.

But Tofu is definitely up there as my 'wrong' food, tastes like cardboard.

What is wrong is eating stuff completely out of season: like watermelons in winter! That's odd. Love them in 35 degree heat but give me a cold day and watermelon and it makes me sick!
