Saints v Pompey
First derby between these bitter rivals for 13 years.
Should be a great atmosphere, i expect Southampton
to win it.

Not watched either of their matches this season, but I notice Pompey are higher in the league. Should be a good watch either way.

Just a heads up for people without recourse to satellite telly, it's on ITV.

Certainly beats Sunday Brunch on Channel 4.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 11:43 amJust a heads up for people without recourse to satellite telly, it's on ITV.

I think all the cooking shows are. Until they come out with a "Throw this in your Air Fryer and come back in 15 minutes to eat", it's of no interest.
Re: Saints v Pompey
It's mad how Sunday Brunch is still on. Everyone's bored and I'm not talking about the viewers. Some musician pretending to like a beef wellington at 9:30 in exchange for the five minutes they're allowed to plug their album with Lovejoy saying stuff like, "wow so you actually write your lyrics on your phone and not with a pen?!" Lovejoy himself and Rimmer have the presence of two hungover dads at a softplay.
Anyway, hopefully a good game. Love a derby.

I live in north Hampshire, know a few supporters of each of these clubs. Highly anticipated game, possibly more by Pompey fans as they have been underdogs in this local rivalry for a fair few years now.
I think a draw is in order but Id like an away win.

Re: Saints v Pompey
why do we care?
Re: Saints v Pompey
I’m off work at the moment so didn’t go on the Turf today. Looked forward to this game but after the first half I turned over and watched the build up to our match. It wasn’t great viewing.

Not great viewing, but you wont see better defending from a low PL side than we saw first half
Re: Saints v Pompey
Are you referring to our game or the Southampton one? I was meaning the latter.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 14, 2025 8:52 pmNot great viewing, but you wont see better defending from a low PL side than we saw first half
Re: Saints v Pompey
Slughtly off topic but as you're in Hampshire, I learned about Nyetimber (the winery) today and was wondering if you had tried anything of theirs or know about them at all?

I've not tried their produce but I've seen them at the Berry Bros outlet attached to their warehouse here in Basingstoke (and they only stock good stuff). Nyetimber has an excellent reputation, based in Sussex I think, on the downs there.
Ive only seen sparkling wines from there which I think are equivalent to good actual champagne. I've see half bottles at Berry Bros so might be a good place to start.
The vineyard I know of in Hampshire that's well regarded is Hambledon vineyard of Hambledon of cricket fame. Again they specialized in sparkling which competes well with champagne

Re: Saints v Pompey
Thanks for that. Yeah, been winning awards recently for their sparkling wines. In fact, I think that's all they do, as far as I know.LeadBelly wrote: ↑Mon Sep 15, 2025 10:12 pmI've not tried their produce but I've seen them at the Berry Bros outlet attached to their warehouse here in Basingstoke (and they only stock good stuff).
