Based on the defensive work he got through in the short time he was on, Florentino is going to be a massive player for us this season.

I'm absolutely gutted, but also immensely proud. We were absolutely brilliant and frustrated the best team in England and possibly Europe and SHOULD have stolen a point. Ok, we didn't create loads, but who expected we would? Having said that we did create and miss possibly the best chance of the first half. Parker got his tactics spot on , even picking Laurent which totally surprised me at 1.45, but crikey he was utterly excellent! Liverpool got away with one today and they know it. Oliver was appalling throughout and I'm always skeptical about this "big team bias" stuff, but crumbs he was falling over himself to give the big team everything, even to the point where he almost gave the penalty before it hit Hannibal's arm!! Liverpool and their plastic, glory hunting fans were rubbish again until they got a lucky break and I am actually proud to support a proper team through thick and thin (and thinner!) and stand with thousands of people dyed in the same wool. We have a far better squad than Kompany tackled the PL with two seasons ago and we just have to keep performing like we are when we play against the lesser teams (Forest?) and if we do we have a decent chance.

Dubravka - 8. Literally nothing to save. Claimed well and punched at the right time
Walker- 8. Got done by gakpo a few times
Laurent- 9. Quietly effective in a back 3
Ekdal- 9. Superb
Esteve- 9. As above
Hartman- 10. For an attacking full back had Salah in his pocket for all of it
Cullen- 9. Captain fantastic
Les- 7. Just a stupid challenge to make on a yellow with the touch as bad as it was
Anthony- 9. Runs and runs and runs
Foster- 9. As above gives so much to the team
Tchouana- 9. Think he was unlucky to get hooked when he did
Florentino- 8. Will be a superb signing
Hannibal- 5. Genuinely not because he gave the penalty away but felt as though he was a bit like a headless chicken when he came on. We’d been so disciplined but he was out of position so many times when playing right mid.
Worrall- 7
Broja. Not on long enough

Thought he played well in general after he came on until that moment. Completely undeserved defeat but we can take so much pride from that performance.

Another fine battling performance. We limited Liverpool to barely a single chance. Their best effort was that long range shot.
Fully deserving of a point and the 0-0 scoreline only, for the second week in a row, to be refereed into the ground. Another death by a thousand cuts refereeing performance but it can't take away from what our lads gave us - they all played fantastically today.

Very organised with great blocks and defending. We look more up to the task than last time around at this level. Not going to get any favours with refs or against the bigger teams and need to be more streetwise.

Great effort, gives us hope. Not sure he had to give the second yellow did he, but any excuse. Sadly it’s a deffo pen and I’m not really sure what he’s doing - shouldn’t be an instinctive reaction in that position.

Because most (sensible!) people accepted before the game that we'd have very few opportunities going forward, but if you're not incredibly proud of that tactical masterclass and brilliant defensive performance which started with the CF and went all the way back to the keeper, against the best team in the country then you're probably made of stone!! Just my opinion like.

Dubravka 8 Faultless handling; not too many shots to save tbh.
Walker 9 All the back five today were magnificent, including Laurent
Esteve 9
Ekdal 9
Hartman 9
Cullen 8 Metronome as usual
Uguchukwu 7 First yellow could have been a sending off. Second yellow was a foul but never a booking
Laurent 9
Anthony 8 Tireless foraging
Foster 9 Thankless task against the likes of van Dyke and Konate, but he stuck at it manfully.
Tchaouna 8 A real live wire. Think he will be an asset for us as he settles in
Hannibal 7 Definite handball but the shot was blasted at him from about four yards
Florentino 8 Promising debut

That was a epic David/Goliath story, with the ending rewritten by one split second reaction.
Really do feel for Hannibal. He knows ahat he did and doesn't need anyone to tell him. Seems to me, he's the sort of lad, he'll be beating himself up over it for a while.
He'll make up for it many times over, in what l hope, goes on to be a long, successful career as a Claret.

Loads of positives. The togetherness is clear. Left back looks a steal. Florentino looked very good when he came on - get him up to speed alongside Les and Cullen and it’s a great engine room. Ekdal looks the player we first signed with games under his belt.
Hopefully Cullen a precautionary withdrawal? Don’t want to be without him and Les against Forest

It's a cruel game sometimes. We can't argue too much about the red card or the penalty. The second yellow is very harsh, but its borderline. Oliver couldn't wait to send Big Les off and give the penalty though. That grates more than anything. The desperation to ensure Liverpool get the win after 90 minutes of incredible discipline and effort. We have enough this season though, we just need to cut out the silly errors at the end. Luis looks a player, though!!

Hannibal 5 - I was worried after he needlessly took out Szoboszlai within a couple of minutes of coming on - the referee should have come back and given him a yellow really. He looked a bit over-eager, his gesturing to the crowd a bit emotional. We know he's that sort of character, but sometimes you just need to get your head down and do your job. The handball is idiotic, really idiotic. Don't turn your back, and keep your arms by your side. Absolute basics in the current game. He cost us a very valuable point.

Dubravka 8- another really good game. The defence is clearly very confident with him behind them. I'm not the biggest fan of punches but the one today was probably the right decision.
Walker 8 - really solid game against a good player in Gakpo.
Laurent 7 - in a new position i thought he did very well. Perhaps beaten a little easily a couple of times in the first half but v good otherwise.
Ekdal 8 - positioning was excellent and very composed throughout. - maybe should have done better with the header in the first half.
Esteve 9* - other than one instance in the first half where was a little too eager to close the ball down and left Salah open he was absolutely phenomenal. Brilliant blocks and headers.
Hartman 8 - a player with a lot of fightwho defended fantastically. Set pieces a little disappointing.
Tchaouna 7 - a really disciplined performance and unlucky not to go through in the second half after a very important touch from Van Dijk.
Ugochukwu 7 - a couple of really nice passes and turns but I thought he was slightly flat footed on a few occasions. Should have been taken off as a second yellow was always a possibility.
Cullen 9 - shouldn't have been taken off, his anticipation was excellent and he set us on the counter really well a couple of times.
Anthony 8 - worked tirelessly and a threat on the counter. He will probably be disappointed with his final product as he should really have hit the target kn the first half and a couple of his passes when we were on the break were slightly loose.
Foster 9 - another who's work ethics was phenomenal and he gave two colossal centre halves soemthing to think about. Perhaps picked the wrong decision in the first half in trying to run Van Dijk but very good otherwise and not afraid to drop deep to help his team mates out where needed.
Florentino 8 - the could be a very important player for us. Very quick over short distances and won a lot of the ball, breaking up multiple attacks.
Hannibal 7 - played really well until the lack of concentration/discipline for the goal.
The shape of the team and the understanding and application of the game plan throughout was excellent. We defended very well indeed and also were a real threat on the break. Whilst Parker deserves a lot of praise for how he set the team up, the decision to leave Ugochukwu on was ultimately costly, compared to Slot who saw the potential for a second yellow and removed the possibility.
We look far more competitive at this level than last time and hopefully we can learn from the moments of naivety in the last few games moving forwards. On to Forest!

A cruel end to a magnificent display of guts and resilience and organisation.
Dubravka - 7 - steady enough but never really tested.
Walker- 9 - used his athleticism experience and quality to good effect.
Hartmann - 8 - stuck to the task against Salah to keep him quiet but if we're being really critical, we needed more quality on our dead balls to give us a threat when we got a chance.
Laurent - 9 - the idea of him as a centre half stepping forwards was certainly novel but it worked a treat until the late reorganisation.
Ekdal - 10 - absolutely faultless and our best player. He's responding superbly to the early season doubts.
Esteve - 9 - perhaps a couple of moments when he was exposed having stepped out too aggressively, but otherwise he was imperious.
Cullen - 9 - magnificent in the time he was on the pitch and hopefully he was taken off as a precaution rather than anything else because he makes us tick. He belongs at this level now.
Ugochukwu- 7 - the challenge for the second yellow was a little tired and rash but until then he'd managed ever so well on a yellow card for so long and our moments of calm in possession all came through him.
Tchaouna- 8 - got through a mountain of work and showed some glimpses in possession.
Anthony - 9 - worked phenomenally hard and unlucky to sweep his first half snap shot over the angle, and that Van Dijk got a toe nail on a perfect second golf through ball to Tchaouna.
Foster - 9 - may not have had a sight of goal but the effort and tenacity he showed through were extraordinary.
Hannibal- 7 - he'd done so well until one sloppy moment. I don't think he meant to handle it, or particularly to make himself bigger, but he didn't get out quick enough to stop the cross, and he turned his back, and in doing so he gave away the crucial chance.
Luis - 8 - thought he showed some extremely promising moments in his time on the pitch.
As someone said to me after the game, this is a very easy team to get behind. It gives everything, it's diligent, it understands its limitations and it deals with them in an organised and humble way.
For 95 minutes Liverpool created barely anything - onr header for Chiesa, one implausible angled effort from Ektike, a snapshot from Robertson and a few things from range. That's it. Whilst Burnley created very little - one snapshot from Anthony after 5 minutes was as close as we came to extending Allison - Liverpool were well marshalled until the last.
Perhaps Ugochukwu was rash with his tired second challenge, perhaps Parker should have taken him off to take the risk away with 10 minutes to go, but his first yellow was unlucky (it came after a clear foul on Ekdal was let go), but either way it opened up the space from which Liverpool ultimately profited. And these days, whilst Hannibal was a touch unlucky, it is probably a penalty more often than not and he must learn not to turn his back like that. On a day when we re-foiund the sort of resilience of our best days under Dyche, that was one unDyche-like moment and it cost us.
Fine margins. In another world, without two last minute lapses, we are sitting on 5 points and feeling incredibly buoyant. As it is we probably need to produce a very different sort of performance and get something against Forest to turn the start into a good one. But there's loads to like here. Hats off to Parker and the team.
