Milos Kerkez

Obviously a very good player but Liverpool paying £40 million seems a bit over priced.

Takes a special kind of stupid to try that kind of dive with VAR on.

Thought he should have been sent off and it was a double whammy because Slot realised he needed to take him off and Robertson on today's showing is still a considerably better player.

He’s not been very impressive for them since he signed. In fact, their whole side was fairly underwhelming.

They might well win the Premier League again this season but the Champions League? I don’t think so.

Should have gone and got a second yellow for hauling down Anthony but Oliver was ignoring most fouls by Liverpool.

Definitely should have been sent off. For the dive alone if I had my way, but dragging a player to the ground to stop a potential counter attack is as blatant a yellow as you'll get.

I thought last week that Robertson still looks the better player and I’ll stick with that today.

Robertson is a complete and utter knob, but I agree, they improved after he came on.

I couldn't believe Robertson didn't start. A class player (and tbf a grade A dick!) but Liverpool were much better when he came on.

Slot wasn't overly impressed with his dive

One of the reasons for the 5 subs rule is so that the richer clubs can substitute a man who has been booked without weakening the side. Without that rule, Liverpool could have been a couple of points worse off today, so it worked as it was meant to.

See also the new 8 second rule for keepers to hold the ball.

On many occasions yesterday Dubravka had to throw the ball out to a defender (who was then immediately faced with all the men Liverpool had committed to the attack) to avoid being penalised with the award of a corner kick. There was no way Burnley could relieve any pressure, even after collecting the ball.

It was almost like a pre-season friendly type of event. I know Oliver didn't give the "sub him or else" signal to the Liverpool bench but the message got to them PDQ and they acted accordingly. No such luck for our player though. Out with the yellow and a satisfied expression on Oliver's face.

Just watched the replay and immediately after he hauled Anthony to the ground (as the last man) and should have got a second yellow, he then went and climbed all over Ekdal from the resulting free kick and could have given away a penalty (had Ekdal behaved like a Utd player and dropped like he’d been shot)

Rated Oliver low on Rate The Ref anyway, but I always do that when I’ve driven home and before I see any highlights. I was unaware it was Kerkez with that foul, I recall I was yelling at the ref it was a booking as he stopped a potential breakaway (Anthony was running back from goal but could have released runners who we had steaming in).

That’s simply two tier reffing, if we had been against 10 men for 55 minutes who knows how it would have gone? Sending off Lesley for a non violent attempt at a tackle simply rubbed salt in the wounds.

But on the wider point, yes, Kerkez does look a duff buy, at the level Liverpool aspire to. Hartman did better at LWB though its hard to compare as it was attack vs defence on the whole.

As poor as Kerkez was, Wirtz still has a way to go to be worthy of the price paid for him.

Why is that? Could he not just kick the thing? If there were that many Liverpool men forward, a kick over them would be the way to go.

Indeed, kicking it long is the new playing out from the back.

Because all of our guys had come back to our box and presumably by that point they were too bloody knackered to leg it within the time allowed.

Only because he didn't get away with it!
