Re: more planned alterations at Turf Moor
planning statement in support of application:
'...Overall Strategy
This application supports the Club’s three-year improvement plan which seeks to enhance the
experience for players and fans. Shortcomings have been identified in the arrival process for teams on
match days. The current arrangements involve both home and away teams arriving at the rear of the
stadium and entering directly into the changing rooms. Reflecting on how other Premier League Clubs
and other sports arrive at their grounds, this is a missed opportunity. As such, a revised arrival strategy
has been devised, involving a new route. This would allow fans to feel a greater sense of excitement
and involvement in the lead-up to a game, with the players’ arrival creating a piece of theatre to improve
and amplify the atmosphere. The careful timing of the arrival 90 minutes prior to the game will play a
part in the management strategy of moving fans into the stadium in good time for kick-off. There are
modest benefits in terms of announcing and celebrating the stadium’s presence at key times through
a fully controlled digital display.
Currently, both home and away team buses arrive approximately 90 mins before kick off to the rear of
the stadium beside the cricket ground and the players go straight into the changing rooms. Under the
new arrival route, team buses will travel along Harry Potts Way, passing in front of the stadium before
turning left at the Club Store, behind the Jimmy McIlroy Stand. Players will then disembark at the northeast corner of the stadium and walk pitchside in front of the James Hargreaves Stand, before entering
the changing rooms via the north-west corner.
To support the new arrival route and enhance the match day experience, LED signage structures are
proposed at four key locations: the corner of Harry Potts Way and Higgin Street, the opposite corner of
the site, and two locations along the access road on Belvedere Road...'

Can’t say any of it excites me or improves my pre match experience but maybe I’m in a minority. A natural atmosphere was created walking past the away fans in the cricket club on the way to the ground but can’t do that anymore.

Not playing very loud music right up to KO would massively help improve the atmosphere far more than changing the team's bus arrival route!

Parking the away team coaches at the corner between the Longside and Beehole is really not very bright, particularly considering how busy that area has now forcibly become following the final whistle.
There were a few stand-offs between stewards and fans following the whistle on Sunday.

Think it's deliberately done to slow down the crowds due to ridiculous self made crush further on. No other reason to keep the coaches there unless the mollycoddled players are too tired to walk a bit further after the game.dougcollins wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 1:09 pmParking the away team coaches at the corner between the Longside and Beehole is really not very bright, particularly considering how busy that area has now forcibly become following the final whistle.

Re: more planned alterations at Turf Moor
The car park was a bit chaotic early on. I arrived at noon and there were lots waiting for the buses, and the stewards were working out where to put the "road closed" signs because the car park was theoretically in lockdown (disabled customers excepted). All the disabled spaces were taken, presumably because they had been putting non-disabled customers there to save them having to drive past the crowds. So we had to drive past the crowds and park in the middle of the car park while my mother got out, and then squeeze into a narrow space that wasn't suitable for disabled.
Getting out half an hour after the match was easy.
Hopefully by Saturday they'll have ironed out the problems.

Re: more planned alterations at Turf Moor
Stand offs will become more commonplace I'd expect as the winter is upon us when people are held up due to the bottleneck, and the opposition team coaches parked smack bang in the middle of the walkway, can't think of a more stupid idea than to put these measures in place, still haven't come across a home supporter who feels this enhances their matchday experience, whoever thought this idea up needs to give their head a wobble. And all this following the building of disabled area's at the corners, also can't imagine for a minute that it's enhanced any of the disabled fan's matchday experience having to battle their way through at the northeast corner when leaving the stadium. C'mon AP have a rethink.dougcollins wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 1:09 pmParking the away team coaches at the corner between the Longside and Beehole is really not very bright, particularly considering how busy that area has now forcibly become following the final whistle.

Re: more planned alterations at Turf Moor
Maybe for oldies like us, but you'd need fans to sing instead, which they dont, just play music that those who feel the need can sing to.
But I know quiet a few families with youngsters who have loved watching the players arrive, and at the end of the day that's who its aimed at

Re: more planned alterations at Turf Moor
Having the away buses so close to the walkway is getting silly already. As I left, just before full time for some reason? There were kids and stewards by the entrance to the coach to welcome back the Liverpool players, just stood in the middle of where we were all
Walking off. It’s just a silly place to put those buses and would have been awful for the kids waiting for the Liverpool players to return. Just asking for trouble

Re: more planned alterations at Turf Moor
It's impossible for both home and away fans to try to sing/generate any pre-match atmosphere with the ear blasting music being played! And I've no problem with the kids/families seeing the players arrive.Row x wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 2:11 pmMaybe for oldies like us, but you'd need fans to sing instead, which they dont, just play music that those who feel the need can sing to.

Really, I was one of the stragglers to come out on Sunday and there was a grand total of about 20 people, loitering around the buses. Ridiculous idea to "Park the buses" smack bang in the middle of the walkway, or even in that area at all, can't think of a more stupid idea.

If you mean the words in the planning application, the club have to provide a supporting application form. The club are just paying the planning agents to do their job. It won’t have cost them any more or less to include this context as part of the application.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 2:21 pmWhat a load of absolute sh-ite.

If you mean that the player arrival stuff is nonsense, I think it’s one of the few things that’s really good about the new plans - and long overdue.
It’s obviously aimed at kids but to give young children from Burnley access to see the biggest football stars in the world up close, maybe get their autograph, etc is a fantastic experience for them and commendable thing for the club to do.

I'm also surprised it's passed safety control and measures, considering there's curbs for everybody to fall and potentially break their ankles because there's actually not enough room, or adequate light at that north east corner because of the sheer volume of people at that north east corner.

Re: more planned alterations at Turf Moor
No worries. btw I've nothing against the new arrival arrangement but it doesn't really do anything to improve the atmosphere in the ground. As you know, in the old days by singing pre-match the rival fans generated the atmosphere but it just seems as though it's the intention to actually prevent that by playing the loud music. Maybe our section of the CFS doesn't fill up until just before ko as they know that trying to sing pre-ko is pointless.Row x wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 2:18 pmSorry, you seemed to be against the arrival set up..my mistake

Re: more planned alterations at Turf Moor
Agree with this. I really welcome stadium development, so well done to Alan and the club.
Only slightly disappointing things for me about this are:
- says it supports part of a three year plan. I hope that doesn’t mean three years to complete. That would be a let
down!
- more spending on the CFS makes me think we’re a long way off getting the replacement it needs and is long overdue.
- I saw a picture of our changing rooms the other day. Look like they’ve had some LED lights fitted but still way off Premier League standard. I think they need some proper investment if we’re keeping the CFS.

Understand totally that people don't like change and for some people especially the older fellow clarets are genuinely affected by the changes, especially with disabilities etc..
But... They are attempting to drive the club into the modern era and for the future generations this is all positive ... You see it on sky sports where the cameras show the players getting off the bus on Super Sunday etc... they kids love it and Modernising the outside of the stadium can only be a good thing if the club is intent on staying in the PL and attracting the younger fans with parents who might now be bothered going etc...
The priority is the 11 players on the pitch but no point serving a Fillet Steak on a cracked plate from B and M bargains
I'm not pro pace or anti pace and they have annoyed me with a lot of stuff but I do understand why they would want to do what they are doing.

They go to all that trouble to get someone to write that nonsense for the planning application but nobody thinks to give that overgrown bush a trim next to the exit by the Beehole End/ club shop. People scraping their way past the branches as they try to squeeze out of the ground.
Re: more planned alterations at Turf Moor
Putting a big gate into the fence nearer the Memorial garden would relieve pressure from the pinch point rather than the 3' wide small current gate.
A couple of Stewards I chatted to near the Team Coaches agreed as they dread full time now.
