Looking for somewhere central that will do food and show the tea-time kick off?
Nowhere central immediately comes to mind....

Can't think of any pubs in town that do food and have the football on now you mention it.

You'll be struggling, Finsley gate does show football from memory and the foods steady away, not quite central though.

Seems like the pubs really focus on cheap ale and assume you'll get a maccies or a takeaway

Little White horse on Hammerton Street, not sure about the TV though

Finsley Gate Wharf would fit the bill.

I would guess most pubs that are fairly close to the ground are way too busy after a home match to serve food and have live football on at the same time. Ones further away will probably do it.

Thornton Arms will serve food after the game and will have the footy on. Big car park if driving or a stroll up Brunshaw Hill after the game. Food is not Michelin Star but decent quality.

Stay away from Bank Parade, looks like there's a terribly noisy band on in the evening.

Burn mark, walking up Brunshaw Hill is no stroll and I walk up it quite often.

It’s not easy is it! I did it for the first time in ages after the Derby cup game - much easier the other way!

I would want a tram network installing to consider walking up there after a few beers and a match

The group I go on matches with try to go for food alongside the usual drinks a couple of times a year. We've always struggled to find a pub in town that fits the bill. Tend to meet up on the outskirts of town for food then head into town before the match. Or go for a curry in town after the match and a couple of beers before/after.
I guess I'm saying that there isn't a good option unfortunately.

I once tried running up it when I was at school. I wasn’t successful!

I walked up Rossendale Road last week. That last part of the climb around the Usher is every bit as bad as Brunshaw Road.

That strikes me as one of few if not the sole option tbh

Was thinking maybe chippy then Ighten Leigh, but that's ticket only for a charity band night so that's out.

If you do decide to go there, might be worth giving them a call and booking a table in the bottom bar near a tv for the football. Top bar will be full of drinkers after the game so the bottom one is your best bet. They do have other tables in an even lower section but I don’t think there is a TV in there.

No tv down the bottom section near the terrace exit.

If you are getting a chippy, you can go and sit in the tent at the Park view and eat it.
They have a big screen in there.

Claretonthecoast1882, re trams. A tram used to run up Brunshaw Rd, but only part way up the hill, as it was so steep, it could not get to the top.

Aye, i suspect it would need to take a zig zag route if rebuilt, even with the modern units

In general the town centre I think you're either going to get somewhere that does food, or somewhere that has footy on, but not both.
Inn on the Wharf might be a shout maybe?

Don't do food. Think they trialled it briefly but not for long.
