Turf aside, what do you cricket fans do to occupy yourselves over the winter?

Ah mate. there's always a crowd to be criticised somewhere..... Did you see the chtistmas markets? Barely a soul there..... did you see The Queue for the lego shop - it was like a Lowerhouse home game.....

Always fun for some in assessing crowds..... and they're only marginally weather disrupted.

I dream of them demolishing the old kwik save and sidewalk buildings and opening up a big old plaza for xmas markets and the like, right by the Bus Station and served by an expanded Wetherspoons beer garden :)

Padiham still have a game this weekend if weather allows.

Luckily there's good sport over the winter apart from football with the Ryder cup and then the Ashes.

I'm not into footy as much at the minute but it could soon change back.

Might get a new winter hobby that doesn't mean freezing every week.

Plenty of cricket socials over the winter, at least at the House

Cricket still going strong in our family.
Eldest grandson plays for th'ouse U11's and by virtue of winning
the cup, have made it to the Lancashire finals vs Whalley Range, a team from
Liverpool and a team from Lytham.

Lashed it down at the 1st attempt in Liverpool 2 weeks ago, last week in Lytham
was postponed for the weather forecast and so the games are scheduled for
this Sunday over at Lytham.

Fingers crossed that at least the tournament can be completed, and at most that
th'ouse can come away with the trophy.

Fairplay raising a junior cricket side in September when football season has started.

Footy, the Ryder Cup and then The Ashes, and before you know it we'll have had the shortest day and Spring will be on the way :)

Footy.

I might post on the cricket threads a lot but footy always comes first when they overlap. Liverpool at home trumps a wet Todmorden away for example. Plenty of away trips with my daughter to come.
My wife tells people (tongue in cheek...i think/hope)she is a football widow in the winter and a cricket widow in the summer. She works a lot at the weekend though so I get away with it and she joins me when she can at the cricket. Footy less so. Can count on one hand how many games she has come to with me. She was at the Derby cup game and she came along for a weekend in London last season when we played Millwall. In fact I blame her fully for that defeat. JInxed us

Im training for a triathlon next year, so my liver will be glad of the rest from drinking Cider or Manchester Craft every day at the club :D

There's a good group of friends that frequent the bar down at Lowerhouse, so I'm sure I'll still see everyone over the winter for a beer or to watch some sport/quizzes,bands, etc

Roll on 2026 :D
