Stewards At Burnley CC
On X:

We have been made aware that many of fans today have been denied entry to Burnley Cricket Club pre-match, by stewards working on behalf of the football club. We will try to seek clarification on this as it is our understanding that this should not be happening.'
I've looked on the board for this, but can't see anything. Is this referring to the chaos caused by man with cone in the road mentioned on the access for home fans thread, or is this another issue? As in stewards stopping pedestrians from entering the premises? Pretty serious if the second.....

Re: Stewards At Burnley CC
The stewards have no business dictating who goes in the cricket club. I'll wait for the full story but honestly wouldn't surprise me. Feels like thats been the main aim of the changes to me.

I'd tell them, in no uncertain terms, to jump.
Find it hard to believe, but if true, that is truly shocking.

Maybe better to get the clarification first before posting on X
Re: Stewards At Burnley CC
Not sure that BFC stewards would be located outside the entrance to the Cricket Club?
Re: Stewards At Burnley CC
I'd agree , can't see how you can stop people going onto somebody else's property unless it was at the request of the cricket club.

The big question is..Who owns the gate behind the cricket club from the pathway from Ormerod Yard? If it is the football club they could just lock it..but then it incoveniences the away fans and perhaps why it is being stewarded but If it is the cricket club then the football club have no right placing stewards to prevent people going through and the cricket club should be asking questions.

I’m assuming the stewards were on Belvedere Road and stopping fans from entering the CCSomethingfishy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 4:48 pmThe big question is..Who owns the gate behind the cricket club from the pathway from Ormerod Yard? The gate in the fence between the CC and Ormerod Yard would need somebody on there to prevent home fans trying to go that way

Re: Stewards At Burnley CC
Yeah to be fair I realised that after posting but it is still an entrance fans could use. If that was open and not blocked off then I wouldn't see the point of fans being stopped going in the main gate as they'd just walk down and use this entrance. Are there BFC stewards at the end of the Ormerod Yard path to stop home fans going down there and there has just been confusion as the gates are next to each other? I know the CC have their own stewards on their gate taking payment for the car parking and I'd be amazed if they just allowed the BFC stewards to stop anyone walking in.
I sense a misunderstanding here rather than anything nefarious but the way things seem to be going..you never know.

Re: Stewards At Burnley CC
Stewards have always been outside the cricket club entrance and tge entrance to the lane.
I presume for fan safety with pedestrian supporters coming into contact with vehicles.

Re: Stewards At Burnley CC
Be interesting to know what time this happened? My friend and I entered the cricket club, from Harry Potts Way, via Belvedere Rd and then cricket club gate via their car park, at just after 1:00. I was in my Burnley home shirt and a claret and blue rain coat. I had no problem getting in and no problems whatsoever inside. It was extremely busy on middle and top floor and strangely enough didn't see any other Burnley colours and we left at about 2:20.

They were and have been for every game.
Also, every game, some of them have been directing home fans away from BCC and generally making it INCORRECTLY appear to be a no-go for home fans.
Seen this first hand and had it flagged numerous times in the club.
Getting tired of sounding like a broken record but BCC IS for home fans and Belvedere Road IS open to get to us.

It is true and has happened every game.
Re: Stewards At Burnley CC
Has anyone asked the Club about this issue?

I was aware this happened at the Sunderland game but believed/hoped it had been resolved.thingandwhere wrote: ↑Sun Sep 21, 2025 8:05 pmThey were and have been for every game.

Another issue yesterday seemed to be Burnley FC stewards on duty at the fire station preventing vehicles from going through to the tennis & cricket clubs.
It’s been flagged with the police (although it’s not their responsibility) and I’m checking with Forest fan reps to see if they had any issues.

Has anyone asked the Football Club if their stewards are directing people away from the cricket club and, if so, why?

Also there was a club steward stood on the central reservation of the traffic lights in front of the bingo crossing towards town centre. Passed him at 1pm walking into town and again at 2pm on way back. He was just stood there in hi viz with his hood up hands in pocket. His jacket said something like Burnley FC traffic steward. Very odd he was doing absolutely nothing.
