I hope there’s a receipt down the back of the couch for these two, awful.

Sonne nowhere near the required level. He wasn’t last season at a lower level either.
Broja unfortunately looks more like a dud than unfit. Looks an apalling buy.

Sonne was free or very cheap, wasn’t he?
Broja for £10m I could understand. If the transfer fee is closer to the reported £20m, though, we might have dropped an almighty bollock.

Borja had a hell of a lot to do before being considered for the first starting 11
Foster with his work rate and drive is miles ahead of him
The big positive tonight is we learned a huge amount about our players-for me only Hannibal, and to some degree Humphreys Fleming and Tresor can hold their head high

Broja needs games. No pre season. No u21 games. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt although he looked absolutely terrible and had no first touch.
Sonne isn’t a championship footballer let alone prem.
Tresor was the one stand out. But we won’t be seeing him again now we are out of the cup.

Sonne is only a cheap squad player. Broja on big money on a 4 year deal is a bit worrying.

I'm not suggesting Broja was up to much, but come on, one full game and a few minutes on Saturday.
Give me strength.

Not lost all hope on Broja. Clearly a player in there but he's physically just nowhere near. And mentally too doesnt look hungry or sharp. Pointless being in the prem squad atm.
Sonne is a Championship player, simple as that.

I remember Stan’s comments about Robbie Blake and diver’s boots.
Broja resembles that remark, hopefully there’s something there we haven’t seen yet. Those attempts on goal were tame to say the least.

Broja needs minutes he’s still way off full fitness in my opinion . Needs to be given time.
I’m not sure about Sonne at all

sonne I agree was not good tonight, Broja was the player I expected, lack of game time and not sharp. Tactically SP got this wrong, Broja and Zian were isolated and then had to run back and cover, then we had no outlet ball same as Saturday.
SP is far too cautious, he needs to be more positive.

Broja would be fine at City or Arsenal who tend to play all out attack ,playing for us when he’s to run his ******** off will not work .

Not until FA cup third round anyway. Even if he's only got 20 minutes in him should still be on bench. He's clearly got something.

Made things happen when the ball came over his side.
Absolutely no idea what the issue is with him, wether it’s illness or just work rate now but it’s a shame

He’s technically our best player. If he can get upto full fitness he’s a real asset. Sadly I don’t think parker fancies him and sometimes that’s just how it goes. Looked very dangerous in the final third and I’d love to see more of him. Parker will play it safe though. That back 5 against a league 1 side tonight was embarrassing.

Not defending either of them, but with no reserve league these players don't get any game time, certainly broja is nowhere near fit.

Broja is a million miles away…. From being written off surely?
I’d like to think he’s going to be given time to become match fit, and then if and when he does break into the team, I’d like to think we are as patient with him as we have been with others…. I doubt it tho - looks like he’s gonna be a whipping boy.

Armando Broja scored 8 premier league goals over a period of 4 seasons and for that managed to “earn” a 5 year contract with us this summer worth £10 million. Absolute madness!

Broja looked pretty decent when he played for Southampton and that was 3 years ago. You don't go crap overnight. He probably needs time but we really needed players that were ready to go.

To give this some balance, he shouldn’t have to be working his ******** off against this Cardiff side.
I’m confident there’s a player in there. Whether there is or there isn’t, he certainly gets more time than he’s had before getting judged. Or at least, that SHOULD be the case…

After being out for as long as Broja has you can understand him being off the pace and short on confidence both in his body and in his game.
He needs time to believe in himself again and trust his body again.

In fairness to Sonne, he got no support from Marcus Edwards in front of him. He (Edwards) looked unfit, overweight, uninterested and spent most of his time on the pitch marking empty spaces and chasing shadows.

Tresor is far to attack minded to fit into a Parker defence orientated team, irrespective of the fact he looks the most skillful player we have.

Wow, the disappointment of the result aside, the poor performances on show were very worrying. Hannibal the only one, imo, coming out with any credit, with Tresor looking okay in a cameo. The rest nowhere near the starting eleven, especially the Broja and Sonne, who were woeful.

Thought Broja did ok.
He’s coming back from a long term injury. It’s madness to write him off after about 120 minutes of football.

Oh and the irony of someone written off after a couple of fleeting appearances last season being touted as a better option (at a higher level) than a lad being written off after two games this season, is not lost on me.

Was looking forward tonight to seeing some quality fringe players busting a gut to prove they’re good enough for the first eleven. Don’t know what tonight was, but it definitely wasn’t that. Are they sulking? Don’t care? Or just not good enough?

Generally I'd say lacking match fitness however question marks raised about the PL quality of several on view. While it is always disappointing not to be in the draw for the next round, the run out will have benefitted those good enough to step up to the league games over the season.
The effect was we looked slower to the ball and lacking in drive, especially in that first half. Not a good look, especially when the opposition are 2 leagues lower than you.

Sonne unfortunately is a never will be and Broja is a might be. I get the notion that Broja is still getting up to speed but by heck that was a bone idle performance in the main, jogging round 10 yards behind play with no intention of winning the ball back or pressuring the opposition when out of possession simply doesn't cut it for me. He's lightyears behind Foster currently imo!

Broja felt like the biggest gamble of our signings this summer. Leeds signed Calvert-Lewin on a free which quite a few on here were laughing at. He has looked pretty good for Leeds and scored a lovely header in the PL at the weekend. Having said that Leeds fans were at him when they got knocked out the cup against Sheff Weds, with him missing 3/4 sitters. I’m not writing Broja off, but we seem to be hoping he finds form and fitness from around 3 years ago. Worth calling out that Foster was getting pelters in the Preston cup away defeat and generally looked a shadow of what we’ve seen in the Prem so far. Often, and quite obviously, individuals look far better in a fluent team.
As for Sonne, he performed ‘ok’ in the Prem at Spurs and helped see the game out v Sunderland. He was terrible last night though. Zero aggression and zero desire, which for a player without much real skill or pace seems quite a necessity.

I don't understand how it takes so long for young men who must train most days & go the gym & do all the right things to reach this mythical match ready that's frequently talked about. I'd suggest given the track record in hand if you are waiting this long for something to happen it's unlikely to happen & if it does it'll be fleeting before another injury rinse & repeat.

I've only really seen Sonne 3 times. He came on for 2 minutes v Sunderland and immediately conceded a penalty, he was utterly woeful at PNE in the cup and then last night where he looked to be moulded on (the late) Ray Deakin.
Broja is quite clearly equally rubbish. "Extremely good, but unfortunately hampered by injuries" my ass! He's a donkey.

I'm happy to reserve judgement on Broja whilst ge gets his fitness back. The reality is that as a newly promoted club our transfer options are limited. Broja has shown an ability in the past and I can only presume that Parker sees a player he can do something with.
Edwards had flashes of class but seemed held back by something. There was a ball in the second half which he could have made more of an effort toget onto but he didn't try. I wonder if he's been injured and not been able to train much. He would have known that a standout performance puts him back in contention so I don't go with the 'couldn't be arsed' hypothesis. He wants first team games.
A big opportunity missed for those players as going through would have meant another match and a chance to make a claim. They didn't seem to gel with the formation - perhaps Parker was using it to test a few of them on how capable they were gaving to adapt?
