Losing a boot during play
Did we really kick the ball out so that our player could put his boot back on?
Re: Losing a boot during play
We did. I think if the ref played to the letter of the law, Tuanzabe should have been cautioned for dangerous play as he definitely tried to make a tackle/ control the ball with just one boot on. I remember it happening to Rooney at a past Euros in which lost a boot and then passed or controlled the ball with his stocking foot. The ref stopped the game, gave him a yellow and a free kick to Portugal.

Re: Losing a boot during play
In 1965 George Best took his boot off and carried on with it in his hand and set up two goals to knock us out of the FA Cup.

Re: Losing a boot during play
It amazed me that they were prepared to lose possession because one of our players had lost his boot. My mind went back to the likes of Brian O'Neil who would probably play in bare feet before giving the other side possession. I would hope that this is not our modus operandi and that Parker had a 'word' in Tuanzebes shell like.

Re: Losing a boot during play
The boot was there for a few minutes of play until the Cardiff centre half threw it off the pitch.
If I’d of been running round without a boot I’m not too sure I’d of been that happy that it wasn’t where I’d left it.

Yes I remember that I was there and if I remember correctly Freddie Smith sportingly held off tackling him waiting for play to be stopped when Best crossed for the first goal .ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 6:53 pmIn 1965 George Best took his boot off and carried on with it in his hand and set up two goals to knock us out of the FA Cup.
Re: Losing a boot during play
The ref stopped play at Spurs for the defender to tie his shoelace . The keeper held the ball for over 8 seconds should have been a corner to us
From the dodgy free kick they scored no consistency

FA Cup 5th round at Old Trafford in 1965 - we were 1-0 up for most of the game and Best, with boot in hand, then set up goals for Denis Law and Paddy Crerand with five mins to go.Turftalkers mentor wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 7:02 amYes I remember that I was there and if I remember correctly Freddie Smith sportingly held off tackling him waiting for play to be stopped when Best crossed for the first goal .
