Yes, Lens. He's on loan to Panathinaikos.

Wonderful footballer, very pleased to see him have success after imo he was poorly managed by VK.

I said at the time that I would've liked to see him working with SP for a while

Pleased he's doing well. He'll always be synonymous with a perfect sunny afternoon at the Turf against that lot.

"mismanaged" sorry but I'm not sure about that.

He had a brilliant first half but then never seemed to find his form. He then went to Hull on loan (different manager obviously), but didn't do anything there either. So may not have been down to the manager.

Not really given a chance in the PL, then shipped out to Hull the following Jan, confidence ruined.

Didn't he play in the first game, got himself stupidly sent off and was subsequently banned for 3 games?

Subbed on, and did a cynical foul stopping a city break - the type that we did a lot in the VK years.
Does that really count as a chance?

He was never really the same after the WC. Lacked the athleticism and pace needed for the PL, but left us with lots of great memories.

Something changed after the World Cup, whether rumours about his attitude changing were true or not, I don’t know. I do suspect many felt betrayed when dropped for our Prem return, and they probably had some right to.
Good luck to him though, he was incredible for us for a while there.

I don't think he'd have done any better than how Anthony has played this season, so probably best we moved him on.

I liked him but not convinced he's premier league quality. I'd rather Anthony in that spot all day long. Wish him well though

I liked Anass and we can blame VK for the fact that he never kicked on after that first season if we like.
Or we can say that VK plucked him out of relative obscurity for a modest fee, helped him find the best form of his career to date and helped him go to a World Cup.
Perhaps Annas didn’t feature much from 2023/24 onwards because he simply wasn’t playing well enough. The failed loan spell at Hull and uneventful first season at Lens would support that. Likewise the fact that he’s barely featured at international level since that initial call up.

Good luck to him. He was very exciting in the first half of the promotion season under Kompany. Looked a real gem but didn’t work out as we expected clearly .
Scored and asssited vs them lot in a memorable day too.
Hope he kicks on in the future
