Expectations Tomorrow

If we show the determination and steeliness that we did against Liverpool and Sunderland (and Man U and Forest to a degree) and stop giving daft penalties away, then I think we can give a fair account of ourselves.

Not saying we're gonna win it, and the beast Haaland will have to be stopped, but hopefully a drubbing can be
avoided.
Play like we did against Cardiff though and we're
screwed.

I'd certainly discount the Cardiff game as it'll be like chalk and cheese with a different lineup and mentality.

We need a Liverpool like defensive performance but need to also improve our counter-attacking play. We had some pace against Liverpool and should have done better with the few breaks we had.

Only thing I care about (apart from Jonjo) is that we don’t concede 5. That’d represent an improvement on the Dyche and Kompany years. Just keep it tight and respectable. Then we need to try and build a run.

Don't be so defeatest. It's only Man City away and we have Rob Jones in our corner.

We will give it our best but it's hard enough to get any points without doing it against an incompetent fool like Rob Jones

Last 10 games against city and 10 loses so it can only improve, first we have to start the game and be strong and try and not give any silly penalties away...

GD is always important & might come into play. As long as we don't get a drubbing & keep it to 1/2 goals difference then it can be deemed a success.

I know it’s defeatist and everything, but I try not to think about this fixture, let alone attend it anymore. Looking forward to Villa already.

I expect we leave with nothing, through a combination of the strength of the opposition, the arrogance and incompetence of Rob Jones and if that fails they always have VAR to fabricate either a disallowed goal for the Clarets or a penalty for City.

My expectation is that I’ll be watching the Ryder Cup foursomes instead, more chance of victory (i.e. better than none).

Despite extremely encouraging displays against Utd and then Liverpool, City away is the home banker to end all bankers (quick spell check!!!) They'll probably just pick Haaland and the goalie and rest everyone else. Can't see the useless ref having much bearing on proceedings tbh. At least the Northern Quarter is good for pubs.

For some reason I’ve got a 5-0 loss imprinted on my brain, so anything better than that is going to be a bonus for me. However, I am looking forward to another attack versus defense again with what has gone on so far after Spurs. I’m not expecting us to score, so I’m hopeful of a 0-0.

Hope not expectations
- we don't concede early
- no red cards
-concede less than 3
- we score

I worry if we concede early that it could be a rout...

That said, I am not so sure that will happen. It does feel like a 3-0 loss beforehand though.

After this match I think things will start to look better though.

A decent performance. No injuries or sending offs.
City to score no more than 2 and we to bag one as well.

Given the cost of Manchester City’s team, of course we should expect a defeat. However, at the end if the day, its 11 men v 11 men and determination and team spirit can produce unexpected results. If we lose, support our players. If we win, enjoy the moment. UTC!

Unfortunately, this type of fixture epitomises everything that is now so wrong with the Premier League.

If we played this fixture 100 times, would we even win 1? I genuinely hope that the 1 is today, but realistically, the odds are we get battered as per normal at the Emptihad…….🙈

Not great.

Heaven knows we need never be ashamed of our tears, for they are rain upon the blinding dust of earth, overlying our hard hearts. I was better after I had cried, than before--more sorry, more aware of my own ingratitude, more gentle. We need never be ashamed of our tears.

If Man City are already winning comfortably, then there is a greater chance of VAR being neutral and maybe even awarding it our way. The current scoreline seems to make a difference.
