When we signed him, I’ll admit I didn’t know what to expect. I saw him play for AC in March, whilst he wasn’t at all poor, he didn’t stand out; signing for Burnley could easily be seen as playing into the narrative of ‘winding down’ or ‘finished at the top level’, but not a bit of it.

Absolute class act on the pitch and you can see how he talks why he’s obviously seen as a leader, we’re lucky to have him in that respect. If we stay up he’ll have been an integral part of it

Comes across really well in this interview and his class has been obvious to see in the games so far. Really surprised we managed to sign him over other clubs in this league.

From his interview it seems the 3 main reasons were (1) Parker and (2) that his son is in the academy, so he'd already met some of the staff and was impressed with how the club was ran. And (3) location.

Excellent interview. KW talks straight. No BS. He's been absolute class and very likely the best RB we've (England) has ever produced.
I have to give a mention to another absolute great RB in Keith Newton. I wouldn't like to chose between either of them.

One of our shrewdest ever signings was Keith Newton (along with Dobbo)-but Keith was actually a Left Back

Sorry Warks Keith was predominately a RB. He played there for Rovers, Everton and England. He started as a RB for us but on occasion moved to the left to accommodate Mick Doc.

A mystery how he didn’t go further in the game!!

Mark Monnington was tried at right back until he tried to take out the entire Rochdale team in front of the longside!

Thanks -did not appreciate that.I guess I saw him play often for us with Peter Noble at RB and sometimes even BillyIngham

Ha ! I just remember my first season full season watching every game under waddle he was playing right back with Chris brass At left back and had them overlapping the wingers … and blowing out if their asses after 20 minutes 😂

Steve Blatherwick came in I think but it’s a long time ago now !

I'm pretty certain it was the other way round.

Brass on the right with Winstanley on the left. Winstanley couldn't have been on the right, because he only ever used that foot for standing on!

Yeah you will be right - I just remember when Mark Winstanley got on the ball some guy in the Bob Lord use to heckle the Circus Tune to him

I'm sure he loved that !

I think those mentioning Bond releasing Lee Dixon are very much using hindsight. I can only remembering appearing in the first team once at Turf and he went to Bury and Huddersfield (if memory serves) before he really shone as a prospect.

Dixon didn't play for Huddersfield. Went to Chester before Bury.
