Is it a curse. Did we accidentally kill their cat or something?

I mean we get beaten by other “big sides” but we also have good days against them, but with City it is just a ridiculous repetition.

I only went back 26 years and couldn’t bear to go any further. Why under a succession of different managers in different leagues and competitions does it keep happening. When does it end.

Under SP with his defensive awareness I half hoped we could go there and limit their output. For a while I thought we had it but nope still the same outcome.

Amazing what a few billion can do do to help a big city ultimate wealth, club, beat a town team, living via borrowed money, with a 75k population.

The thrashing in December 2001 completely derailed our first PL promotion push under Stan. We were top of the league going into the fixture and ended up finishing 7th missing out on the playoffs by 1 goal on GD and bloody City had put 5 past us and also saved a penalty.

It's those late 90s, early 2000's ones that probably make it feel worse. Since they were bought by Abu Dhabi, I'd imagine a lot of clubs have a similar record to ours, certainly since Guardiola arrived there. The George Boyd winner is a favourite memory, and the 1-1 draw against one of the peak Man City teams was actually a superb effort.

Dyche told our players to take the ball to the corners and waste time, not sure why as City were dead on their feet.
Quite a few City fans in the pubs after said to us they could not understand why we backed off at the last push.

I give you “7th December 1968”.

I was a young lad just starting to get interested in football. We had no internet in those days and radio / TV was limited in our house. I knew Burnley were away to Man City on the above date but it was not until Sunday morning that I heard the news. I saw a neighbour who used to travel to most away matches and with a grim expression he revealed “City 7 Burnley 0”.

Their scorers were Young 2, Bell 2, Coleman, Doyle and Lee.

The money has certainly helped them in recent times but out of all the sides I've seen us against regularly. City are the side that just keep piling forward for goals.

The most attacking team you will see, even when they weren't supposed to be very good.

One of my favourite away days was that.

We were sat right alongside the City fans, and when Barnes equalised it was utter mayhem.

The 2-2 was a great away day. I remember it well. David Silva was magnificent in the first half - a joy to watch. Everything went through him and we didn't get within 5 yards of him the whole half. Then at half time Manuel Pellegrini decided to move him from CM to LW and he disappeared from the game, we started to get a foothold, and somehow clawed it back to 2-2.

It's one of very few highlights against them in my time though. The first time I saw us play against them was in the FA Cup in 1991. I would have been 10 at the time. We lost 1-0. Had I known what was to come, I would have taken that as a good result!!

Bogey side

I'll never forget the feeling of being 2-0 up away at Man City in the Premier League, back in November 2009. I never thought I'd even see us in the league, never mind going two goals up at City.

It was only bettered when we went 3-0 up in the first half at Chelsea!

I was there that day with me mate big Terry.
I was 12yrs old I sneaked there without telling me mam and dad ,( they'd never let me go to Maine road).
The team got truly battered and city even missed a penalty and had one goal disallowed .

We trudged back to the coach to find all the windows were caved in, moss side was tough area.
I don't like Manchester City.

Don't know what happened there. I was there with my Dad for the 7 0. We cheered when they missed the penalty, at 6 0, and were accused of being bad sports . I did see us win there 5 2 in 1963 (?).

I saw us win the Charity Shield at Maine Road and a rare point at the Etihad but we move on

The best thing about the Charity Shield is that we scored with the same free kick routine in the league game the following season.

Seem to remember the 1-0 loss in the fa cup was to a Colin hendry goal, we were on top for most of the game but on the wrong end of the result.
