Apologies if this has already been linked here. Lots of coverage of Mike Summerbee in this vintage documentary.

Half of the players could barely kick the ball in any direction.

I suppose in the early days a wet leather ball weighed about 5 stone.

Things you see nowadays .
A player giving the manager a haircut .
Don't worry about wearing a seat belt.
And my fav , nothing beats bringing in a gun to kill birds .

Living on the border calender & granada I often miss going back to the 80s.

Great watch. Thanks for posting. Swindon were ahead of their time: the original Keeping the Faith

Simpler times, but managers were asking their players to play it out from the back and their forwards to press back then, so in some ways not much has changed :D

Some other thoughts:

- Loved seeing them running up the stands in training. Must be a reason for it but you never see players doing any ‘hill work’ for fitness these days.
- Think all players should wear suits to the games today and loved that saying “every greeting returned”.
- Interesting how the ‘high’ wages were resented even then, but great to see how the players interacted with the community (shopping in the corner shop, etc).
- Strange how gambling was just an accepted part of the game.
- Also interesting to see the “beware of pickpocketers” sign, easy to forget society has always had its challenges.
