Walker v Villa
Why did Walker contuinually pass backwards instead of turning down so many opportunities to cross the ball into the goalmouth/penalty area? The repeated pass back was increasingly predictable.

Because foster or broja don't make any effort to give him targets to aim at.Im_not_Robbie_Blake wrote: ↑Mon Oct 06, 2025 8:15 pmWhy did Walker contuinually pass backwards instead of turning down so many opportunities to cross the ball into the goalmouth/penalty area? It's how he's been coached by Pep and Southgate for years.

Re: Walker v Villa
I thought he had a very poor game on Sunday.
Especially as Parkers system seems all about getting him free down the right hand side. His distribution and crossing skills would need to improve massively.

It’s almost like some of our fans have never seen him play.
He has never been a full back who puts crosses into the box. Rarely did for Spurs or City.

Re: Walker v Villa
- It isn't how he plays, been quite a narrow full back for a while. Played that way at City. We saw it with Kompany and how he got Roberts to play. Tucking in. And it worked really well.
- Little point putting the ball in the box when we have at most two players in there and one is usually Foster.

Do you think Parker had ever seen him play then?Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Tue Oct 07, 2025 10:41 amIt’s almost like some of our fans have never seen him play.

He can't have brought him in to run all the way down the wing, leaving massive gaps at the back, to just pass it short to retain possession?
It will cost us far more goals than he will contribute to.
I think most fans expected him to be the RCH in a 3, using his pace at the back.

Yes I think he has seen him play (though not sure you have from the sounds of it)Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 07, 2025 4:13 pmDo you think Parker had ever seen him play then?

No he hasn’t just bought him for your description of him - and fortunately for Parker and us he offers a lot more than that.
We might see him at RCH at some point. But guess right now with injuries we need him at right back. He’s been one of our best players this season and he’s an exceptional signing.
If you seriously think that’s all he offers us then you are watching a different game to me.

It's amazing how to some people televisions haven't been invented. Unless you are at the game in person you have no idea.

Even more amazing how many threads you jump in on and make a completely irrelevant comment.
Nobody has said anything as to whether it matters if you have seen a player live or on the television. Clearly you can form an opinion on a player from either.

He is on 11 points for the season (Hartman has 21) and has gone down in price.
Maybe he's not contributing as much as you think?

I’ll bow out of the debate now…..before you start to use Top Trump card ratings to back up your opinion

Apologies for using a source that records goals, assists, defensive contributions. It doesn't seem he has any.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Tue Oct 07, 2025 7:36 pmWow - you’ve actually posted that as a serious comment.

Feel free to find any other source that suggests otherwise. Or you can just stick to thinking he does a lot through your own eyes, which is fine, but it's not likely enough to convince others.

Why don't we outsource our recruitment team to Sports interactive as well while we're at it.

Not sure who I’m supposed to be trying to convince. All the people I go on the games with agree as to how good he is.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 07, 2025 7:49 pmApologies for using a source that records goals, assists, defensive contributions. It doesn't seem he has any.

I’m certainly not bothered trying to convince someone who uses a fantasy game to back up his opinion or thinks the player has been brought here to start doing something he’s never done in his career so far.

It's a vast desert some of us seem to reside in bereft of media or anything that's indicative of facts.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 07, 2025 7:49 pmApologies for using a source that records goals, assists, defensive contributions. It doesn't seem he has any.
