Re: World Cup ticket prices
The whole thing is going to be incredibly expensive for fans. Flights, hotels, food, drink. I think Englands following will be made up of expats and a small number of diehards.

I met a few Spurs fans who have followed England to World Cup games for years and they said the Russians were brilliant and totally hospital able. But these weren't 20yrolds looking to fight the locals.

Re: World Cup ticket prices
I think that this just sums up the utter greed that has beset football. How they can justify such prices is beyond me. I hope it flops with lots of empty seats and no atmosphere.

Re: World Cup ticket prices
The USA is the king of capitalism. This was to be expected! If people will pay it then they will charge it. That is the whole point of capitalism and the USA.
Re: World Cup ticket prices
I still think that they will fill the grounds, unless it’s a dead rubber game or between less attractive teams. The ticket prices will just be reduced, the nearer it gets to the game.
What that will do is dampen the atmospheres - grounds full of tourists rather than fans, but that doesn’t matter as long as the coffers are being filled.
The Americanisation continues!

Re: World Cup ticket prices
They won't be empty, it'll be full of folk on corporate tickets though, so the atmosphere will be bobbins

Re: World Cup ticket prices
Nonsense tournament which needs boycotting
The idea of playing in the USA just a few years since last time is totally wrong. But it's all about the size of your countries brown envelope with your"bid" in that works for FIFA

Re: World Cup ticket prices
Maybe we could ask FIFA if we can play one of the England games at Wembley. Play them at their own game.

Re: World Cup ticket prices
The South Americans will probably be there in big numbers, always seem to find a way. As others have said the less attractive games will end up with tickets virtually given away with the dynamic pricing.

Re: World Cup ticket prices
The sooner the once "working mans game", totally collapses, and has to have a reset the better.
The whole sport at the top end is just full of greed and extortion.
I've started to watch grass roots level recently and it's superb, normal working class fans, acceptable food, drink and admission prices etc.

It's only 8 tournaments though, when you consider all the countries that haven't had one in that time it's pretty soon I'd say..

Re: World Cup ticket prices
I’m guessing it will be “dynamic” pricing or whatever ******** it’s called which means if it’s not selling, more category 4 tickets appear and other people get moved.
It’ll definitely sell out but for what price a ticket no one knows.

Re: World Cup ticket prices
They put the first 10% of tickets on sale a few days ago and they sold out in minutes.
If people will pay those prices, then they're going to continue to charge them. That's capitalism folks

Re: World Cup ticket prices
Once the fixtures are announced and the reality of a expanded world cup hits home, prices will drop. The group stages will have some pretty poor match ups, or terribly one sided games. I’m going out for the first two weeks on the East Coast. There’s 13 possible games I can attend. I’m waiting for dynamic pricing to kick in nearer the time.

I've contemplated going to this one, but at those prices it would be one of two games max I could afford. Not sure it's worth it

Re: World Cup ticket prices
It's not a case of 'wanting' to host a world cup but being 'able' to host one. With the ever expanding format, the list of countries capable/able to afford to host one is getting ever smaller.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Wed Oct 08, 2025 10:58 amIt's only 8 tournaments though, when you consider all the countries that haven't had one in that time...

Don't bother, keep your hard earned money in your pocket.
Or if you do have an urge to spend £5k+, give it to people more deserving than that mob.

Re: World Cup ticket prices
And to think I paid £7-7shillings for my 1966 World Cup North West group games, plus all the games up to and including the Final.

And a pint was half a penny and we all had to walk 400 miles to the nearest shop for a box of coal to warm ourselves up with.
Bring those days back.

All I can say is thank goodness I’m not going. I thought the prices for the pre-season games out there were bad enough but this is ridiculous.

Not wishing to get all 4 Yorkshire men but I could travel to the Turf by train get my lunch and get on for less than £2 when I started watching.I also watch all WC games at Goodison as a 17yrold never dreaming corrupt bxxxxxxs at FIFA would prevent me ever being able to afford to see another WC live in my lifetime

Re: World Cup ticket prices
The prices being quoted on here are before Trump has applied another round of tariffs for Britain and Europe. Could turn out to be rather costly retaining the Ryder Cup.

Re: World Cup ticket prices
That's a far cry from 1966. My brother was a student in London at the time and one frosty January morning got the tube to Wembley Stadium and knoc ked on the door of a hut outside the stadium selling World Cup tickets. He was asked how many he wanted and got enough for himself and three mates to watch every game played in London along with the final of course. Then got back to South West London in time for a lecture. Progress eh ?

I am planning on catching a game or two in Philly if i can get cheap last minute tickets. I certainly will not be paying anywhere near those asking prices.

Re: World Cup ticket prices
With 48 teams up from 32 and 3 countries hosting ,there’s gonna be absolute dross on show for sure . It feels almost against the whole WC spirit to have it so spread out making every game ( in their words ) “ a mini World Cup final”
Naturally it’s all because of directly marketing to 48 countries brings in mind boggling revenues . Odd that Russia was the last decent WC ( imo)
As ever Eng tickets will be like rocking horse sh1t and it’s gonna be one hell of a haul for those going over .
