I was at Wembley that day (like most on here I suspect), but a view from behind the goal:

The impeccably observed silence at Turf Moor on Saturday. Not a sound.
No picture for obvious reasons.

The ones after keane's equaliser vs Boro last season where Robinson and Duff have sprinted down to celebrate and Lowton picking up a kid who's ran on the pitch

The picture, sadly, does not do it justice.

The words put a lump in my throat though. Great year to be a young Burnley fan.

oh god that derby game. remember it so well. was only a little lad at the time. looking back, it's almost like we were breathing life into the club... look at everything we've achieved since.

I was at all 3 games, so that includes the fogged off 1st replay where we were 2-0 down after 75 minutes and the absolute "pea souper" saved us - temporarily. We all stood on the seats in the second replay, which as the Derby fans said was then staged on the Saturday afternoon of 4th round day and just chanted and chanted and chanted and it lasted about an hour! It really was a proud moment and considering we were still a 4th division side and had been for many years by then, to achieve that level of backing and support and to pack out that end of the ground showed the whole of football that there was PLENTY of life left in the old dog!! We went on to get promoted at York at the end of the season of course.

"oh god that derby game. remember it so well. was only a little lad at the time. looking back, it's almost like we were breathing life into the club... look at everything we've achieved since."
I think we did, it inspired the team to get us up as Champions and never to return to Div 4.
I was in the front row of the upper tier that night, I had no idea how many Clarets were underneath me, but I knew there were many due to the noise. The stand was wooden, and I swear it was rocking. It was certainly deafening. Some great comments from the Derby fans on that link.
One note, why do I recall someone having a go about Kendal the goalkeeper? An argument then followed with a woman behind me about it. Turns out it was Kendal's wife, she was in tears!

That Derby game was brilliant. I went to all three and remember cheering the fog on as it was coming in because we were 2-0 down!!

Having watched the service at the Cenotaph, I wonder how many of those clarets in the 1914 picture never came back from France?

Some amazing photos.
The same scene but some 102 years apart is hard to take in.
Which ground is it with the running track and the players walking round in the mid-60's?

I think that the 60s photo may be from an under 21 tournament in Germany in 1966 - in the group stage, Burnley beat Fortuna Dusseldorf, Cologne and Inter Milan to qualify for the final where we beat Barcelona 2-1 with goals from Gary France and Ralph Coates. We then played a German Select Youth XI where two further goals from Coates earned a draw. Plenty in there to feel proud of!

Indeed an "unfortunate banner" AND we lost that final game at home to Wrexham which even though it was a dead rubber was something of a shame because my God how packed and "lively" was the Longside that day!!
