Goals on Sunday - Alan Pardew

Post by IanMcL » Sun Aug 11, 2019 12:58 pm

Just referenced Sean Dyche's 'Manager's Day'.

Said that all the managers are hamstrung by the sports scientists, who say don't do this, don't do that etc.

Do we really push the players, like say the cyclists in Tour de France? No!

So Sean gives the Sports scientists a day off and then runs his players to death!

Well done Sean!
....

Nice one Alan Pardew. Dyche fit - beyond sports science.

Alex Scott called us "Barnley" and Kammy said "so when this ball comes in from Charlie Taylor"!

Alex Scott was a natural hosting that show. Yeah, she got her words muddled up with ‘Barnes’ being in the same link piece and pronounced us as Barnley :)

At least it wasn’t Barnsley

You would have thought that "ability to accurately read out autocue" would have been an essential requirement for any TV presenting job, not so nowadays it seems :)

My Satnav pronounces it Barnley    perhaps the fragrant Ms Scott (looking forward to Strictly with her on it ) is the voice for Satnavs :D

It's more of an accent / dialect thing, so for her pronouncing it 'Barnley' isn't incorrect.

The same with the word 'Punt' and similar sounding words, we emphasise the U vowel more harshly than Southern or "BBC English".
