Perhaps would have expected him to do that before voicing his objections so publicly?

Perhaps Deeney should have the same rights has anyone else to voice his opinions and change them if he sees fit.

Anyway whilst on the subject of Deeney I think he derserves a lot of credit for taking a lead role in the Premier Leagues plan to show support for Black Lives Matter. Getting a lot of kudos from people within the game for his leadership on the subject

Also good to see him trying to raise awareness around gay and bi players in football and the challenges they still face

After all the trouble he had when he was younger he really seems to have matured im to a top bloke

Didn’t say he didn’t have a right to change his mind, just that as captain of his football club, it’s odd he wouldn’t ascertain all the information before making your decision/being so vocal. Looks like he’s made a big fuss about nothing now.

There's no such thing as all the information as its ever changing and open to interpretation. He gave his opinion on the situation as he saw it then and he's given his opinion on the situation as he see's it now.

Nothing to see apart from for those who got upset because a player dared to hold a view that they didn't like

I suggest that Deeney's confidence was raised when he saw the results of multiple rounds of testing, and understanding the rigour of that having gone through it himself - It would probably have the same effect on most from this board.

Possibly. But then he did know the testing was going to be introduced so could’ve just reserved judgement? Or said he wasn’t returning until the test results had given him confidence to?

I’ve just read two long articles before and after his change of heart. I won’t post the comments because they’re long and to partially quote either would be misleading, but the reasons he gave initially did differ from his reasons to return and he didn’t mention testing as being a factor.

He has every right not to play. Not arguing that. Just think to be so outspoken you have to be very sure of where you stand and stick to it. At the time I thought it was all related to Watford’s desire to void the season (hence posting in this thread) and I’m still not entirely convinced that it wasn’t... and the u-turn came when he realised it was happening regardless.

I'd imagine Deeney's u-turn is based on Watford staring down the barrel of relegation, and his likely large drop in wages etc next season if he was playing in the Championship.

Now the bottom 6 have finally realised the season's going to be played to a finish it's suddenly concentrated hearts and minds funny that.

Deeney would get a Premier a League move and I wouldn’t be surprised if we were one of those interested.

Another thread where people base their opinions on what colour t shirt a footballer plays.

Deeney had his reasons. Had we been in Watfords position and one of our players in similar circumstances said weeks ago he didn’t want to play, those same posters will be supporting his decision.

Based on the green Lamborghini with the number plate A9 GRY spotted going up Manchester road on Sunday we might be talking to his striking partner....unless he was up here just visiting old friends.

We'd be interested, but not on his current salary, i could see him ending up somewhere like Palace in the event of the Hornets going down, as it happens i think they'll just have enough to escape the trap door, but it'll be tight.

Deeney's also no spring chicken anymore, he'll be 32 in a couple of weeks, and so his resale value will be nil, in a post-covid world clubs might have to consider these factors more carefully.

I wouldn’t at all. I meant to finish one of my earlier posts that it makes me so appreciative that our players are so professional, get on with things and avoid the media - class acts.

I would’ve been furious if Burnley were in that position and a player handled it in that way. I’d support their decision not to play, of course, just not the public handling of the situation.
