Clearly used his elbow to hit Westwood, but I’d be disappointed if that was one of our players

Don't like to see that from Westwood, cheating plain and simple.

Bit harsh, Westwood makes the most of it. Stupid but a yellow would be sufficient.

It might not be a true red but it’s just a stupid decision by the player. You don’t let that in the hands of the referee to adjudicate. It’s just dumb and a lapse of judgement from Buendia.

Rubbish
I think Westy will be embarrassed when he sees that. I dont believe he thought the ref would show a red, but even so there was no need for the reaction

It was a red, but Westwood shouldn’t of held him and it was the softest of elbows. Nothing like an Andy Carroll

Was deliberate but not hard enough for a red IMO. A yellow would have sufficed.

Harsh maybe but he definitely deliberately struck an opponent. Thats red.

Good to see the ref going to the monitor. Thats exactly how VAR should be used. Reffed ON the pitch, not from a monitor in a darkroom.

Closed his fist and hit him with the elbow. Intentional. Westwood made a meal of it, but that was violent conduct.

Would feel hard done by if it was the other way round. Stupid thing to do, not exactly sporting, but contact was minimal.

Can only assume he walked due to the intent, rather than the severity of the contact

The kind of thing you can't get away with with VAR. Stupid to hit back with his elbow but it was a soft red.

Credit for Westwood rolling round like he was shot. You can bet anything 99% of players would do the same thing against us if the tables were turned.

It was deliberate, it was elbow, it was head. It’s a red all day long.
It doesn’t matter whether he hurt him they are talking about banning heading the ball because of head injuries. You can’t do that and stay on.

Thinking about that... should we not allow rate the ref scores from people NOT actually at the game now? It's reffed from a tv screen now so why not?

Player's fault for giving the referee a decision to make, silly when you know VAR is watching.

He tapped him on the head, no need for Westwood to roll around like he'd been hit by a sledgehammer. Wonder if Dyche will be on his high horse about playacting at full time?
