Red cards
Re: Red cards
Both were stupid things to do.
The first, he looked to where he was going to aim and then pushed his elbow down on to Westwood. It wasn’t exactly powerful but it was a deliberate elbow to the head.
The second, both feet were off the floor to make the challenge. He wasn’t in control and endangered the player.
I’d not have argued either decision if they’d been against us and I suspect that the majority of Norwich fans are more ****** off with their players for their stupid decisions.

Both clear red cards. They can have no complaints.

Re: Red cards
If I deliberately elbow someone in the head (however hard) or lunge in studs up I expect to get sent off. So I don’t do it. Nothing to do with the game going soft, idiotic things to do. Ruined the game for me, but I’ll take the points very gratefully.

Re: Red cards
id pay to see a battle in midfield with joey barton and roy keane but those days are gone it seems. the game is now soft and has been spoilt. Lets be honest here. Both Burnley's players over reacted. Something Dyche is against.

Re: Red cards
Quote from some twonk on Norwich forum Not606 made me giggle : "The red cards were stupid, but the failure of the ref to punish Burnley's thuggery contributed." Ah! Diddums!

Re: Red cards
The first one was 100% red, I don't think anybody can debate that one unless they were watching a different game.JohnMac wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 11:39 pmFirst one a definite Red. He was very sly and deliberate and knew he had been caught out. I think Ash went down because the point of an elbow just behind the ear is a painful blow.
Second one was reckless and out of control and 3 Burnley players in different positions immediately remonstrating proves the point somewhat.
It's the second one that I've seen plenty of yellows for, but think how our players reacted will have played a part.

Re: Red cards
I’m the opposite. First debatable, and Westwood’s reaction was pretty embarrassing. If Dyche wants to continue to call out player theatrics, he needs to cut it out of our team first.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 12:57 pmThe first one was 100% red, I don't think anybody can debate that one unless they were watching a different game.

The second is reckless and dangerous and an unarguable red imo.

Re: Red cards
Look at his arm though. It starts out as a "Get off me" type of hit, but then his arm tenses and he puts the elbow in with a tensed arm. You don't do that naturally, he was annoyed at the challenge on him. It's a total unnatural movement unless you're striking someone on purpose. And as it was done purposely, it has to be a sending off. The strength of contact doesn't and shouldn't make a difference the aim was there. You can try and headbutt someone and miss but that's still a red card.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sun Jul 19, 2020 1:03 pmI’m the opposite. First debatable, and Westwood’s reaction was pretty embarrassing. Re: Red cards
Both were reds for me but the crux is how we reacted to them. In our first season and the season back after promotion to a degree. We were not used to the nuances of the Premier League. Those little details that opposition players were using for an advantage. Dyche said as much in that we were too naive and soft. We didn't make the most of opportunities like the other 19 clubs were doing. There's a fine line between cheating and making the most of situations. In that first season we'd have had a heck of a lot more decision if our players hadn't stayed on their feet in the penalty box or we'd made more of situations. We're wise to it now. Tarks is a perfect example. Offering the ball to Zaha then throwing it away. Pushing the Norwich player out of the way yesterday who stopped him taking a quick throw. You could see the red mist descending with a few of their players even before the first card.

Re: Red cards
The players reacted in that way because they were hurt. Should they have said, "Oh deary deary me". Of course not. Ask someone to elbow you in the side of the head or to leap at your legs when you are boiling the kettle and see how you react. It's called pain: it hurts!

Both clear red cards
Re: Red cards
Both reds for me too, and we stay with the on field decision even after review.
For the first one im happy Kevin went to the pitch side monitor , I feel the big decisions should always be made by the on field referee.
Second one he is clearly out if control and it's dangerous. Regardless of how much contact was or wasnt made. It doesnt have to result in a leg break or nasty gash to be out of control and dangerous

Re: Red cards
Norwich - two players sent off in ten minutes
Burnley - you have to go back 126 Premier League games to reach two red cards (Brady at Huddersfield in Jan 2019, Barnes at Hull in Feb 2017)
