Diogo Dalot

Post by Hedontplayforyou » Thu Jul 30, 2020 5:43 pm

Apparently surplus to requirements at United now, 21 year old attacking full back. This is the sort of loan player from a Premier League club that we should target , someone who has plenty of potential and a point to prove, perhaps with an option to buy in the loan agreement.

An a while it gives the parent club a chance to see if their player is actually up to it, the beneficiary club gets a decent player in return , with an evaluation from all parties at the end of the agreement.

I have seen a few rumours that Barcelona were interested in signing him in well aware, I was merely using him as a good example - but I would like to see him at The Turf.

Tend to agree-is he right footed. I said a few months ago we can do worse than look at some outstanding U-23 players at the top 6 clubs, who have little chance of getting in the first teams, or some of the squad players well down the pecking order. In similar circumstances is not how we got Mee & Trippier

Recently James of Chelsea was on loan at Wigan-what a superb rb he is now. Mount was at Derby two seasons ago. Tomori was at Derby two years ago.

Saw the midfielder from Chelsea play the other night for Swansea. Conor -forget his surname-really good box to box player (with Charlton last season)

These guys exist

Good call.

Generally I’m not keen on loans now. It’s all a bit small time - Championship.

But he would give us options as a more attacking RB and RW cover next season.

I know he has only made a few appearances for Brighton but I have been really impressed with Tariq Lamptey. He made the move from Chelsea for about £3 million, which I suppose could be seen as a bit of a gamble given his relative inexperience, but he looks good going forward and pretty strong defensively too.

If we're not in the market for big money signings, these types, on the fringes of the big boys first teams, is who we should be looking at. This time last year, Saka was the same at Arsenal, and now look at him......

What, you'd rather have a young loan player than Trippier?

Funny old game.

He'll sign 10 minutes before the window slams shut so Boden can tweet "that's Dalot, I've been told to stand down".

He has looked fantastic on the occasions that I have seen him.

Agreed with a post above many younger players are now leaving the bigger clubs in search of first team opportunities , and I believe this trend will increase now others have taken the plunge. Sancho and Lamptey being two examples.

Conor Gallagher is the player for Swansea who you watched the other night, I’d take him any day of the week. Hopefully we go back in for him.

Mee & Trippier was the first thing that came to mind.

Do we really believe that young loanees would actually get a game?

With regards to what I said if you like a player up with a potential option to buy at the end of the loan it’s almost like a trial season . Given that right back is an area we need to find a younger head in this was a prime example and a decent player to suit

Two possibilities from Man Utd for me would be Fosu Mensah (RB) and Tuanzebe (CB)

Tend to agree. Not had many, if any; successful loans since Mee and Tripps. There are some out there sure but they'd have to perform a hell of a lot better than recent loans.

But it's the manager who picks the loans
It's almost like he wants them just for backup and would rather use this format than buy them on permanent deals

Keane was a good example of a successful loan. But yes agree, in general players we have on loan don’t seem to get many games.

Given how good Keane was, maybe it is because once Sean really sees these loanees they are not up to it. That was certainly the case with the lad from Liverpool at right back.
And of course Danny who will be lucky to get a game with Stevenage and just a chance with the new Bury team playing in the z tier this coming season

Wasn’t Keane only a loan because we couldn’t sort out the permanent deal before the window “slammed shut”?

Tuanzebe no chance and Fosu-Mensah isn’t good enough and a yellow card waiting to happen every time he plays
