Hands down that's the best living room I've seen on this forum. I love dogs more than some people could ever understand and I value the worst dog over the best human being, but Christ almighty that's some impressive memorabilia you have there and I'd kick your mutt in the head to own it.

This is Ron. Sadly we had to say goodbye to our beautiful boy on Thursday after nearly 11 years of him enriching our lives. He has left a huge hole in our family and we miss him so badly.

Sending our condolences Herts. This is Buddy. Passed away in May 2018. Never a day goes by we don't miss him. Quite simply a unique dog and such a gentle soul.
It does indeed leave a massive hole. We still haven't got over him passing two years on but as said above. The memories, well there's so many to cherish.

Certainly is heartbreaking. After Buddy passed my wife wanted another. We still had those two further up. So she sent me off to Wales to pick up a Jack Russell rescue. When I got there it turned out the Jack Russell was a Miniature German Shepherd. Still about 8 times bigger than I expected.
There's a lesson here. Don't rely on pictures on the internet when choosing a dog. Doggy may turn out not to be as small as you think.
We've since re-homed him as he didn't get on with Jacky.

16 is a good age.
We had our dog Brandy from when I was 3, to when I was 19 so also aged 16.. I came home from college and my mum was sobbing and asked, "Notice anything missing?" It's never nice, especially when you've grown up with them.

Do you have to pay for a dog at a rescue centre?

There’s a donation type payment of between £100 to £300 from what I’ve seen. I may consider a rescue as well at some point but they’re predominantly breeds that we don’t want.
Currently, the bred we want is being quoted at 2.5k to 3.5k which considering they were under a grand pre lockdown, I’m not prepared to line the pockets of people out to line their own pockets.
I’m on a waiting list with a breeder who won’t be breeding her dogs until later this year and has suggested not paying the silly money for a dog that may not have been bred properly or healthily.

We got ours from a rescue centre in Blackpool, they just asked for a donation of what you could afford, giving them a decent home was their main aim..not ripping you off.

We're looking after a dog this week for family. My son also has one.
I love dogs but the suffering when they pass away is so hard.
My thoughts are with those of you who have suffered recently. And for those dogs who are maltreated.

Yes, losing a dog is just awful.
The thing to do is to get another straight away. You just transfer your love to the new one ( without forgetting the old one, of course).
As has been noted above, though, puppy prices have gone through the roof since lockdown. I hope they're back to normal by the time I have to replace Lexie.

More recent pics of Ron. One with Herts Jnr 12 months ago, 1 just after he had his eye removed in January due to a tumour (and ultimately this is what led us to have to say goodbye on Thursday) and one with his Mum, Dad and 2 sisters, all owned by family members.

Here's our Louis, 5 month old Maltipoo. We've only had him 2 weeks, but he's settled in like it's been a lifetime. Haven't had a dog since childhood, thoroughly enjoying every moment of it again.

I've removed the offending post and poster. Thanks to the person who reported it. I just wish people wouldn't reply and quote, makes it more difficult to remove all trace.
