Arsenal fear Burnley
Seems like it was a relegation six pointer after today’s results.

Re: Arsenal fear Burnley
they are genuinely the ponce team in this division, hideous fans, dull media coverage and it is obsessive, and as an additional bonus....their football is woeful.

Louis Alfonso and Buster Bloodvessel are both Arsenal fans, and can have sensible chats about footy and Arsenal v Burnley history and I like Bradley Walsh on the magic lantern, but as generalisations go I agree with you the worst kind of club from the top down to the cleaners.

Re: Arsenal fear Burnley
They have been relegated ....1913 I think and they were never properly promoted in 1919 it was a vote between them and Spurs
Re: Arsenal fear Burnley
Most football fanbases are the same. We’d list several clubs eg Leeds, Newcastle, Liverpool, Man Utd then odd ones from down south. It’s mostly geographically based.
Ask Millwall or Brentford fans and they’ll say West Ham, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea before Leeds, Newcastle, Man Utd.
But Arsenal as a club are just meh. It’s not a bad club, or wasn’t. It all seems to easy there for the players. It’s like a PL daycare centre. I wouldn’t be surprised if the parents dropped them off and picked them up from training. “Ohh you had a good day sweetheart?”. I mean look at Aubameyang. He gets his haircut like an 11 year old who pretends he’s Cristiano Ronaldo at the lunch break.

Yeah, because ours is so easy on the eye then I can see why you’d say that.

Re: Arsenal fear Burnley
They have a toxic fanbase with the most distorted sense of entitlement in the league. This is a fanbase who ran the best manager they ever had out of town because he failed to win the league. Wenger consistently qualified for Europe at a time when they were paying off the new stadium. He had no money for new players but did a great job in the circumstances. I hope they get relegated. If you want to have a laugh go on youtube and look for arsenal fans reactions to our game against them.

They got relegated in the 1912/13 season

Peston - Arsenal
Why am I not surprised at that one?

Re: Arsenal fear Burnley
Areoles were relegated in 1912-13 and played second division football in 1913-14 season
Thereafter league was postponed and after the war Arseoles were elected to be promoted into an expanded 22 team first division even though they finished 5 th in the second division in 1914
I think Spurs were fourth but lost the vote for 22nd slot to the Arseoles
The Arseoles are the only team to have been promoted without earning it

Arseholes played two seasons after relegation and were 3rd in 13-14 and 5th in 14-15 season before league suspended until after WW1

Re: Arsenal fear Burnley
We can certainly overtake them in the short term, whether we will finish above them come May I strongly doubt, but they're having an awful season by their standards.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 7:25 pm1 point behind Arsenal now with a game in hand...

They have reason to fear us. They may have costalotta but they're hardly a "team".
Arteta can't be much longer in post

I don't disagree with any of that, however I suspect the rot goes much deeper than just Arteta, they had exactly the same problems under Emery, too many players on big wages who're coasting, they need a radical clear out before they'll begin the path to recovery.RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 8:44 pmThey have reason to fear us. The FA Cup win showed that when the Gooners can be bothered they are capable of competing against anybody on the day, but far too many of their squad have a belief that they're much better than they actually are, no team will win anything without hard graft first and foremost, and until the Arsenal players realise this they'll continue to flay around the lower reaches.

Arsenal need to press the “reset” button and clear out the deadwood with a manager who can have the benefit of knowing he won’t get sacked for poor results while that happens. That’s why they’re screwed, and it’s lovely to watch

Re: Arsenal fear Burnley
They won't go down but they are in a woeful state with the Ozil debacle being beyond belief really...I mean £350K PER WEEK and not even making the match day squad....just think about that for a moment !! Deserve to go down for that alone. Arteta has frozen out players he doesn't rate (such as Mustafi and Guendouzi as well as Ozil) but seems incapable of firing up the rest of them. Pepe..£72M for a man whose laziness was highlighted by Shearer on MotD last Saturday night..is another financial crime too. Set ti be a nothing club for at least a couple of seasons.

Re: Arsenal fear Burnley
There are a couple of pieces on the current troubles at Arsenal in The Telegraph (online) today. One of them highlights some crazy statistics being quoted by Arteta (and his team) to justify how they're not doing too badly really.
The other how they're planning for "doomsday scenario of relegation from the Premier League". It says that they have, for the first time, recently been including 25% pay cuts in case of relegation.
I suppose they get rid of Ozil's £18 million next season at least and, with a few 25% reductions would get their salary costs down to maybe £120 million per annum IF they got relegated.
