Hugging and Touching

Post by basil6345789 » Thu Jan 14, 2021 6:25 pm

Just been on telly, players ignoring the instruction no to. Pep Lollipop Eyd says he doesn't know how to stop it!
Well, how about shutting down the league - that'll stop it!
Terrible example to kids - "celebrating" is showboating anyway.

Heavy petting and fondling by the corner flag are frowned upon too I believe. Even more so with players of the opposition.

I don't mind their own team doing it but players and managers shouldn't be hugging and shaking hands with the opposition.

And those Covid tests will pick up about 80% of cases missing 1 in 5 with the virus on a single test
The rapid lateral flow test misses about 50 to 60 % of infections
Not sure how often they test and what method is used but all a negative test does in those who are well is to negate a need to self isolate
All other precautions need to be followed to best protect themselves and others

Are you taking the ****? Players who are grappling, pushing, hugging and breathing on each other at every corner then can’t shake hands or hug when they score and at the end of the game? Makes a lot of sense that 😒

Terrible example when we're pleading with everyone to do everything that can conceivably help the cause.
Grappling, breathing etc - well done, you've just convinced me, undeniably, that we should not be playing.

Abandon the season.

Serves no purpose.

Almost the whole country is confined to camp, hardly surprising that footballers behave like entitled little pricks when they are allowed to do every week for vast sums of money what most of us would love to do for free in normal times.

Passing a COVID test an hour before kick off means absolutely nothing. The player could still be carrying it and spreading it to everyone on the pitch.

Money talks, merit walks.

So we’re happy for half a dozen players to form a wall at a free kick, shoulder to shoulder.

We’ve no problem with 15-20 players in the 18 yard box grappling at corners.

But we can’t have players celebrating a goal?

Makes sense.

Absolutely this. Was bizarre to me the players coming out of different tunnels to keep to social distancing then playing a contact sport...

It is like any other job if deemed necessary which football is not.
You take whatever precautions you can to avoid unnecessary close contact as the fewer episodes of close contact the better
So whilst congregating in the six yard box etc is part of the job, hugging etc after scoring a goal is not a necessary part of the game nor is
all the close contact by managers and players after the game.

The constant spitting on the pitch is more gross..

Then sliding in it

No wonder keepers wear gloves

Actually it does make sense. The likelihood of catching coronavirus is dramatically increased by many factors, including time in proximity, distance, and being face to face. All of which are more in play when players get together for a group cuddle after scoring.

Yes, they might catch it during normal play. But then why add to the risk by needless petting.

And it really doesn't help enforce the message to the general public. Getting close at corners, standing close in a wall... thats all necessary and part of the game, and their job. But rubbing your teammates cheek, and giving them a nice head to head bumpety bump is completely unnecessary.

The message is to avoid all unnecessary contact. They are demonstrating unnecessary contact EVERY SINGLE GAME. They get the chance to play football, doing the job they love. And I'm glad they have that chance. So why on Earth are they jeopardising it? Its just plain idiocy. If the politicians decide to stop elite sport because of it, then they have no-one else to blame but themselves

They could at the very least show a bit of common sense rather than kissing and cuddling one another.

I am an ex egg chaser as well as a silky lover, and as such enjoy also watching the Rugby, last weekend the Bath game was awesome HOWEVER 16 blokes kept having meetings I think you would call them a scrum, and they all breathe hard and then have a bit of fun rolling about together (ruck), yet the real problem is we silkys' having a bit of a hug if ever a goal is scored. Stop Rugby before you lecture on risks or is that a posh sport and so it is ok? Leading by example is treating Rugby Football and god forbid they have stopped golf, it is all so mixed up ffs. UTC

Not that I'm trying to convince you however.

I understand that in infant schools they were able to teach 6 year olds not to hug and touch. The only question is whether footballers have the intelligence or maturity of 6 year olds. That could be the problem.

It's not so much the on the pitch celebrations that concern me, as others have rightly pointed out the risk of spread is greatly reduced outdoors, and it's instinctive to celebrate a goal, although VAR is doing it's best to ruin this, however what worries me is some of the dressing room celebrations with scant regard to any protocols, these aren't necessary and more importantly are taking place in an indoor environment where the risk is far greater, this is what has really attracted the attention of people watching on, plus why the managers have to shake hands before and after games I don't understand, what's happened to the elbow bumping they practised last season, that apparently has gone out of the window.

The one that annoys me is that they have to get someone on a train from Glasgow to act as a pundit then send him back again. Makes a complete nonsense of following COVID travel rules.

It’s not like he’s got any idea what he’s talking about anyway
