Let's hope quality young right backs with plenty of playing experience are available this summer for £10m.

Late drama at the Turf on Deadline Day. I have just seen a statement issued by the personal press officer of AP, Heather Binad. In it she says that the club are pursuing several lines of enquiries and intend to make serious late bids on the following.
Finnish right winger Heese Eledantakkenin.
Uruguay right back Nota Hope
South Korean midfielder Sum Wat Mai Dup
Southern Irelend midfielder from the US Con Ned O'Really
Canadian CB Ewell Ben Adover
and Finally former Manchester United star Wlly Eckerslike
What a great window its going to be, broken promises and little action. Hope no-one is going to spout the usual well we did renew 4 contracts which will be like 4 new signings. I reckon I've been more active than the recruitment team at Tumbleweed city Burnley.

When you say playing experience, do you want premier league starts?! He has played at the top level in Germany?Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 3:02 pmIf we were going to pay £10m id expect it to be for someone with a lot more playing experience than JJK.
So, a starting premier league right back, at a good age, cheaper than 10m...

Around 9m? The same as Kenny! Kenny who's younger than Brownhill when he came in? Kenny who's played at a higher level than Brownhill before he came in? Do you get it?

So then its all come down to probably losing Tarks in the summer for less than he was worth last summer and where we will need to buy a replacement where we will be stitched up by paying over the odds or go without. We missed out with Davies, failed with Collins with an insulting bid, missed out on Worrall, missed opportunities with Dawson, missed an opportunity with Tomori when we were linked last summer with Chelsea expecting £15m at the time and overlooked the African player whose name escapes me at the moment but who we were linked with.
We couldn't even sort out the Kenny situation and instead lost out to a Scottish pub team who play regularly against other Scottish pub team reserves in a joke league who would struggle in our National Conference League. Its a shambles and pathetic.

Ah, didn’t know that. Still a mistake to jump straight to that level with that midfield, in my opinion. I’d say a Championship club, low Premiership club should’ve been his next step.

I have no issue with Tarkowski's value decreasing if it means we stay in the Premier League - it's worth more than an extra £10m. Even if he goes for nothing in 18 months.DomBFC1882 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 3:40 pmBang on regarding Tarky and being held to ransom in tbe summer. Very poor indeed

Yeah, I'd imagine he'll either link with their Under-23s or go out on loan. Who knows though, some players deal with the step up better than others

In summer we will need a winger, a right back, probably a centre half. We might want to add a striker to that but we’ll see.
Will we do those things?

We certainly need to. However we will also be stuck with the even older aging squad less Tarks, still numbers short and still have Pieters, Stephens, Long, JBG and Brady. Oh dear.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
There will be options in the Summer that will be more realistic than January prices.

I believe Bogle was £10m at the time and signed until 2024. I don't think the options in summer will be at more realistic prices at least not for us as most of any potential targets we would be desperate for and clubs will know we have money from the Tarks sale. We have truly made a real mess of things.
Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome

Maybe we could loan him next summer

given the yearly "the January window is so hard to sign anyone" we hear from pretty much every manager maybe we should just scrap the window

I just wish these arbitrary windows were sacked off.
I far preferred it when you could sign somebody whenever (bar a couple of months I think it was). I miss the days of walking past a newsagent and seeing the A-Board outside for the Lancashire Evening Telegraph saying “Clarets Swoop for Grimsby Ace”.

And you think that is a positive do you ? I suppose we could get rid of him in the summer for a small fee but it will cost us a lot more to replace him though so we might be stuck with a player who is by the consensus of posters not good enough and heaven help us with no Tarks and an injury to Mee he might be out number 1 CH. Still think that's a positive do you ?

Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Merson on Sky just said on those who have had a bad window.
I'd say all the teams down the bottom of the table. This might be me, but last weekend's results has changed a lot of people's attitudes. With Fulham drawing with West Brom, Newcastle and Brighton both getting phenomenal results, Burnley recently having two great results, the gap has got quite big to the bottom three.
"I still think Fulham have the potential to win a couple of games, so I feel those other clubs just above the drop zone still need to do some business. But it's the owners who have started to wonder if it's worth doing any more business, and that worries me."
Don't usually agree with Merson but he is right on this one.

Interesting load by Derby today:
Manchester United defender Teden Mengi has joined Derby on loan for the remainder of the season.
Rams boss Wayne Rooney has been unable to make new signings due to the protracted nature of an impending takeover.
The 18-year-old made his senior debut as a substitute in United’s Europa League last-16 tie with Austrian club LASK in August.

I think that about sums it up Tony.
I remain optimistic that we’re currently on a conference call with Stoke City to sign Collins. We’ve bid twice in the last few days (that we know of). I cannot believe we wouldn’t be there again on Deadline Day. Stoke have not once categorically said not for sale, so you’d think a deal could be done...
