I like VAR. Tonight has been shocking though. Utterly shocking. The Southampton player didn’t make contact, I thought he was going to overturn the pen & then he sent him off!!!
And the decision was made off a screen that appeared to be frozen!
And Adam’s wasn’t off fo me. He looked clearly on with the lines. But irrespective, if it’s that close the decision has to be advantage to the attacking player, surely?
I wasn’t sure about the Luiz pen but a VAR check was right. Rules need changing if it’s a red for clipping a heel.

It isn't a red for clipping a heel, it's for denial of a goalscoring opportunity while making no attempt to play the ball.
Once they were given as penalties they have to be red cards.

What a load of ******** VAR is. I can understand refs getting things wrong as they happen but how can they watch that replay and decide that that was a foul and send the player off? The Utd player dived. Cheating sod. He should have been booked.

2 red cards purely down to players having it drilled into them to cheat first, score second. Awful decisions.
Leno'swas brilliant though, what a tool.

So how come Liverpool's keeper wasn't therefore sent off when he took down Barnes?

Haha what?quoonbeatz wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 11:27 pmBecause the ball was bouncing off the pitch so there wasn't a goalscoring opportunity. That shouldn't have been a penalty either.

How they saw that is beyond me though. Almost like a defender can’t run in the box anymore.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 10:58 pmclipped the ankle of Martial's tailing leg - after Martial made sure he would

The offsides were a joke with VAR. I’m not having this arm being a millimetre offside nonsense.
They have to go by the trailing foot for me. If the forward is fully past the defender when the ball is played, he’s offside.
Or ditch it completely

The ball was still in play when Ash went down. I made a point of checking at the time. He stayed on because he was making a legitimate effort to play the ball but it was a pen as the ball was live. Even if it was obvious it was going out.quoonbeatz wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 11:27 pmBecause the ball was bouncing off the pitch so there wasn't a goalscoring opportunity. Because he was deemed to have been making a genuine attempt to make a save. The red card is for when it is thought to have been a deliberate denial of a goalscoring opportunity rather than for the actual foul which is punished by a penalty kick
