Predictions vs Spurs

Post by tiger76 » Wed Feb 24, 2021 10:30 pm

I'm cautiously optimistic for this one, I can see us sneaking a 1-1, their recent form is dreadful and they do appear to have problems in their camp.

And when we played them earlier in the season they didn't look any great shakes did they.

My predictions are, like most people’s, shite but their recent form has been woeful and I think we can maybe get a point. A win there is a big ask but if we get our best back line we stand a chance. 0-0.

They should easily beat us as they're a Mourinho team who try to do a Burnley to other teams.

In other words they'll make it really hard for us to score and nick one. And let's be honest it's not been hard to stop us from scoring this season.

Let's hope we're up for it and turn up this time.

Not much to offer on the attacking front unfortunately, but we may well
have enough at the back to shut them out.

Nil nil for me with fingers crossed and a following wind.

Its never been more difficult to predict as if the Burnley that played Crystal Palace turns up I think we will win but if the Burnley that played against West Brom I think we will lose . This season the strength of our bench appears to be the most important factor in determining how we will do. We need at least 4 credible Premier League players available as substitutes for injuries and changes of tactics to get a result . I will go for 0-0 unless Spurs shoot straight.

We could be anything, Spurs are in terrible form . They’ll probs beat us 2-1 but it’s a game we could easily nick something from

Possibly the worst ever performance by Burnley for some years v West Brom.
Spurs won’t be as undisciplined as Palace plus real quality players...even had Bale on the bench last week.
Can’t see us scoring tbh and can’t see a clean sheet either. Games against teams above us aren’t definitive, but games against the teams below us are. Need to concentrate on taking 3 points from each one of the lower teams.

Spurs will rediscover some sort of form with a routine score to nil, just hope we can keep it down to 1, but I dont think we will cope with their pace.

Our hoofball, fall over, anti football type tactic doesn't tend to work very well v Mourinho sides.

Praying for a Lloris/defensive mistake and us being able to cling on to something

3-0

With a half full glass I'm looking at a 3-0, I'm sorry to say. I think we would need to be at full strength and playing well to get anything, neither are currently applicable.

Slightly off topic, but I've just bought over two grands worth of Silver from a friend of mine who's selling up. Got it cheap, so I'm happy.

He's a betting man, so I asked him to put a tenner on Burnley to win at Spurs, which he's done for me at 6 to 1. I haven't placed a bet since I was in my 20s, and I'm 73 now, so a rare event.

If Wood plays with A N Other, and we play hoofball, I think we'll lose easily. If he doesn't, and we play football, I think we might sneak it.

Here's hoping.

C'mon you Clarets.

That was last season. Do you not move on? We have beaten Liverpool and Arsenal away this season and Spurs aren’t playing well. City beat us regularly by a large margin whereas our record against Spurs is actually not the bad. Do the sums bud.

We got a draw there a few seasons back, and yes your correct our record against Spurs is surprisingly decent in recent seasons, admittedly that is mainly at TM, but even so this isn't a fixture we should be fearful of, we're unbeaten in 4, and surely if Newcastle and Fulham can get a result there then we can.

But according to some on here Fulham are just Barcelona in a false position and Newcastle are so much better than us. Forget the simple fact that that our results in the last 8 games are W3 D3 L2 and the 2 defeats were to City and Chelsea. FFS I wish people would grow up mate. Our form is actually VERY GOOD. And without being over confident we are capable of getting something at Spurs. I despair sometimes at the negativity on here. People talking about relegation like it’s some kind of reality when we are nearer to mid table than relegation and we have form that doesn’t even suggest any kind of danger. I really don’t understand what people are afraid of.

Dot from the band London Grammar has backed Burnley to beat Spurs 10-0 in Lawro's predictions on the BBC website. I wonder if she's had a tip off we're playing Kev Long upfront.

We need to get into them. If you get into Spurs you have a fighting chance, they can’t defend well. If we sit back and let them come onto us they’ll win easy they’ve got to much attacking talent.

That’s probably because last week we nearly lost at home to the team at the bottom of the table, they were also down to ten men, only won two games all season (at the time) and we nearly lost! It’s hard to be positive after a showing like that, if you can’t beat clearly the worse team in the division with ten men.
