Burnley destroy Anfield
Burnley destroy Anfield
Since Burnley broke the 3 season undefeated record of Liverpool at Anfield, Liverpool has fallen apart.
Our impact on their psyche should not be underestimated.
We are Burnley.

I think it started falling apart after failing to beat West Brom at home and then failing to score in any of the subsequent 3 games before playing us.
We got lucky by playing them just after they had gone into freefall but fair play we didnt half take advantage

Hope they can get their home form back for Sunday with zillions on target and bag a lot of goals

Re: Burnley destroy Anfield
They really have imploded. So many players are so far from their best there has to be something wrong in the club.
I can understand them conceding goals after losing VVD and Gomez and playing their best two midfielders at the back but they offer nothing up front from Salah, Mane & Firmino. TA-A & Robertson have lost their delivery.
It's a shambles.

It didn't shake them that much they were top in December, it's only since the turn of the year the wheels have fallen off, and boy they haven't half fallen off in spectacular style.
Re: Burnley destroy Anfield
Yes, but this thread is about destroying Anfield, not Liverpool - we broke that hoodoo, not Villa

Precisely! the only team to take even a point there last season, and the team to end their unbeaten run of 68 matches. Not a bad stat is it.

Re: Burnley destroy Anfield
I looked at the Liverpool falling apart in the OP and IMO it was the Villa result which was responsible.
I think I can say that without taking anything away from our great win at Anfield and if people want to believe it was that , then fine

For me it was Watford last season. I know they went on to win the league but it showed a lot of their weaknesses.

I’m just hoping that when the scousers get back on they will have returned to a top 4 club rather than title contenders

Ian is correct, it was Burnley that tore down their house after three years, and since then everyone's had a do.

Nice to see Klopp blowing smoke up Parker and Potter’s backside in his comments pre Saturday. “The way Brighton and Fulham are playing is exceptional in this league. They are trying to stay in the league but do it in a football way....”. Another thinly veiled dig at the likes of our Sean and others and how we don’t play football from the man who has presided over 5 home defeats on the spin...including being out footballed by his fellow German who has been here 5 minutes. Well done Jurgen.

I’m not sure we actually started anything at Anfield. The question is did we start the rot or did we win because the rot had started? Whatever it is subsequent events have taken the shine off our win slightly. It seems anyone can win there just now. If Fulham can do it that is a terrible sign.

I think it was arrogant to select that starting XI today given their utterly abysmal form. They got everything they deserved today, absolutely nothing.
On a plus note, perhaps some of the doom mongers will realise it isn't just Burnley who have a limited squad.

Re: Burnley destroy Anfield
A bad weekend for Liverpool just got worse with Utd's victory in the derby, their top 4 hopes are now hanging by a thread, and looking at the table and the games in hand all the teams below them have, it's not out of the question that the Scousers will finish in the bottom half, what a fall from grace it has been, and Klopp must be on borrowed time at this rate.

It makes me wonder how long before they replace Klopp with Gerrard. A big chunk of their fanbase already wants this.

Well! according to the rumour mill it was an unwritten rule that Gerrard would succeed Klopp in 2024 when both their contracts are due to expire.claretabroad wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 6:49 pmIt makes me wonder how long before they replace Klopp with Gerrard. However given the speed at which Liverpool have hit the buffers, and the sterling job Stevie G is performing in Glasgow, I can see events moving quickly this summer, and if Gerrard is offered the Liverpool gig he's not going to turn it down is he.
Re: Burnley destroy Anfield
What a shocking team selection Clip made today. Leaving out Trent A A and Mane was asking for trouble. I thought Fulham were outstanding in the first half and Liverpool had no answer to it. I do wonder if Salah will be looking for a move in the summer.
Re: Burnley destroy Anfield
Klopp could and probably should argue that his first team are rubbish so he might as well pick his rubbish reserve team in hopes that their rubbish play will be less rubbish than the first team rubbish. And since they lost 1-0 like the first team usually do, this side was neither more rubbish nor less rubbish than the usual rubbish.JohnMac wrote: ↑Sun Mar 07, 2021 5:50 pmI think it was arrogant to select that starting XI today given their utterly abysmal form. Champions League match in the week and with the league title gone this is their priority so with all their injuries and fixture schedule he probably just wanted to rest a few players a bit like Dyche did against Bournemouth.
The net result for both Klopp and Dyche resting players was pretty much the same

Re: Burnley destroy Anfield
Klopp had to try and change something, he's been playing the same team for 2 months with the same result.
It didn’t work out, but at least he's finally tried to do something.
Their string of youngsters just don't compare to Utd, City, Arsenal or Chelsea. They've had the pants down on so many clubs by selling poor players, for large amounts of money, on the basis they played for Liverpool.

you would have to be the most unrealistic and fickle Liverpool fan to even suggest it. What he has given them over the last 3 years has been nothing short of sensational, they've played some of the best football I've ever seen.
