Hopefully re-showing all of them. (but will the Beeb? - I think they should)
Always worth a watch regardless.
They have removed parts of it so they don't upset the snowflake brigadeHunterST_BFC wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 7:29 pmFawlty Towers BBC 1 8.30![]()

So what is on after it then? By my reckoning, that’ll be about 8:35....
More like overly tolerant and all inclusive.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 7:49 pmI think it was just the Majors bit talking about the cricket that got removed.
Its hard to work out who the snowflakes really are with how upset some people get cos a few scenes in programs get edited to be more in line with the more tolerant and inclusive world we live in these days.
Not really much to do with the pandemic. These sort of programs are just not being made anymore, period. I can find hardly anything entertaining on tv nowadays. Possibly the worst thing I’ve seen a snippet of lately - and that was literally all I could take, a snippet - was something consisting of a multitude of drag queens on prime time Saturday evening. I mean, it looked that bad and extremely offensive to the eye.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 8:16 pmI know we're struggling to make new programmes due to the Pandemic, but re-runs of a seventies sitcom?
Things really are bad. They've been showing them on GOLD for years. It'll be Del boy and co next week.

I take your point about the drag queen show, but it's easily avoided. However, I can't believe we'd be showing repeats of fawlty towers, if the restrictions weren't in place.dermotdermot wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 8:45 pmNot really much to do with the pandemic. Just the opposite. I was only on a wind up. Let's just say I'm a big Alf Garnett fan and hate everything about modern society. I don't watch the news or read social media because the world is full of snowflakes and it just wlnds me up.
Life must be fun in your house. Throughout history nothing has ever stayed the same. Hating everything about modern society is quite a miserable mindset to be stuck in. Some people make themselves unhappy because life moves on and they don't.
I'm very happy with my life and my home is a happy. I just can't be doing with blame culture, compensation culture and off with their head culture. So I choose to ignore it and if that makes me a snowflake then I guess I am. We are supposed to have freedom speech but you can't say boo these days without offending someone.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 9:39 pmLife must be fun in your house. In full agreement if that's ok....Firthy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 10:31 pmI'm very happy with my life and my home is a happy. We do have freedom of speech, more so than most of this world's population, and people have the freedom to be offended, if they so wish. I would not let it bother you.
I suppose a Manning fan would be likely to be fuelled by blind prejudice against anyone who isn't "just like them".Wile E Coyote wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 11:26 pmOh, if they are reviving ancient comedies from oxford educated ponces like cleese, then can we expect a bit of balance and get ITV to rerun Bernard Manning stuff, he was much earthier and ten times funnier .
Couldn’t agree more, you should just accept things the way there were at the time, don’t like it don’t watch it, simples!Boss Hogg wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 8:11 pmWatched a couple the other night on possibly Netflix/Prime. They’ve stood the test of time well but a good flashback to that era. One of them was a bit shocking in terminology but people learn more from it by keeping it in imo. It was from a different time when different things were seen as acceptable. Why chop and change it so we can pretend things were different. Just put a warning up about the language etc and people then have a choice whether to view it. Oh I forgot it’s the BBC.
Wile E Coyote wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 12:21 amCleese cited Milligan as THE comedic influence, so why dont they repeat his "curry and chips " shows.
"Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right" Ricky Gervaisyou can't say boo these days without offending someone.

Well they might then have to remove the sign to the hotel at the start of programme. As you have probably noticed they make an anagram from the name. One I recall was Flowery Tw@ts. That will have the perpetually offended sobbing into their recycled hankies.
