Everton have just brought a sub on, for his League debut, and who has been with the club since a schoolboy ; he is 23 years old.

Re: West Brom-Saints Brighton-Everton
Finished 0-0 typical Brighton performance dominated the possession, but created hardly any clear cut chances, still a decent point for them that edges them towards safety, and also puts them ahead of us although only on GD.
Everton without DCL are a poor side, and their European hopes are fading fast, they just can't beat the teams at the bottom of the league for whatever reason, and this is going to cost them in the final analysis.

0-0 and we're in the bottom 5. Squeaky bum time.

Re: West Brom-Saints Brighton-Everton
Only from the usual suspects, and if we're still in trouble then so are Brighton & Newcastle, but no sensible pundit expects any of those 3 to go down.
Indeed we're statistically much more likely to catch Southampton, Wolves or Palace than be overhauled by any of the bottom 3, as it happens I suspect we'll finish 15th/16th, but the main thing is the decent gap to the danger area, even 17th although disappointing will still mean another year at the top table, and a real chance for the new hierarchy and SD to rebuild our squad come the summer.

That subs bench at Everton shows how bad their recruitment has been ( think thats how it works, you ignore all the players unavailable for a game ) and having 1 shot on target against a team like Brighton has Ancelotti lost interest at Everton ?
Sounds silly doesn't it when you pick another team, ignore players not available and focus on 1 result

Everton have quite a few players missing, if you add the missing players in, a selection would feature in the starting 11 or on the bench & that list wouldn’t be there or just maybe 1 or 2, you wouldn’t be able to have a stronger bench really because decent players want to play & if Everton were at full strength the capacity to include everybody & keep everybody happy would be at conflict.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 7:58 amIwobi

Doesn't work like that, you have to ignore the players that aren't available.
Our bench on Sunday keeping the same starting 11 could have been
Pope
Bardsley
Cork
Barnes
Rodriguez
Taylor
Stephens
Brady
Long
Because a lot of those were unavailable we had stupids saying our bench was embarrassing.

Re: West Brom-Saints Brighton-Everton
By that same logic you also need to imagine how different the circumstances would be if the players were available, the bench is substandard because decent unavailable players are missing, when they return the substandard are displaced, you can’t keep everybody happy, you have a stronger bench what happens when everybody from that list returns back into contention? Everton don’t have the quality in depth like some other bigger sides to rotate.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 8:40 amDoesn't work like that, you have to ignore the players that aren't available.

Re: West Brom-Saints Brighton-Everton
I really wish I had your confidence in that, our return on games against those around us is quite shocking... and but for the totally unexpected wins at Liverpool, Arsenal, & Everton we would be in serious trouble.

I suspect quite a few other teams may also be in serious trouble if you were to discount 3 of their victories.

Fulham
Leicester away 3 points
Liverpool home 1 point
Spurs away 1 point
Everton away 3 points
Liverpool away 3 points
Just think where they would be without the unexpected results

It doesn't matter who you get the points against as long as you get the points.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 11:21 amFulham

It's worth noting in our 2 relegated PL seasons we beat Man Utd in one, and Man City in the other, and both those teams went on to win the title, so although those were great victories they didn't ultimately help us in the final standings.
And equally Fulham will no doubt reflect on their failings to collect enough points from the games against the likes of Brighton, Burnley, Newcastle, Palace, Sheff Utd & Wolves just to name a few, if they do go down those are the fixtures they'll look back on with regret.
Now we arguably haven't been any better against the lower teams, but we're not staring down the barrel of the Championship in a few weeks, and Fulham will be kicking themselves for losing 4 on the bounce, when just 1 victory from that quartet of games would have brought them back into contention.
