Right winger options for summer?
Been watching Rangers a lot during lockdown and thought Ryan Kent looks a good fit on the right.
I hope our recruitment team have been looking at him.
Was also impressed with the left back Barasic and Morelos up front. I hope we have at least £15m to spend on one player better than what we have this summer!

Somebody like Albrighton is where we'll be looking, if indeed we will be.

Must have exemplary medical record i.e. enjoys working out on a medical table and has to be at least 31 to fit in with the rest of the squad, nagh only joking, I know we will go for some one in the mould of Jude Bellingham Yeh and I know he is not a right winger, but is talented and young.

Re: Right winger options for summer?
Albrighton is 31 and he's not going to improve at that age, so not for me thanks, we need to get younger blood into the squad, plus he'll likely be on big wages, how many over 30's do we want to amass, I've no problem with experience, but there needs to be a balance.onewillieirvine wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 9:09 pmSomebody like Albrighton is where we'll be looking, if indeed we will be.

He looked good when we played Nice (or whoever he played for) that pre season, again we were slow off the mark

I didn't think he looked that good in our friendly tbh. Credit to Newcastle for finding him though.
We need to get ourselves some gems like him, championship players are getting far too expensive and we can look forward to being priced out of even more sales now the likes of Leeds and Villa are up spending money.

Ryan Kent only has flashes of looking good and you've got to factor in the opposition hes up against. Its a huge step up from the SPL to Championship nevermind the EPL.
Also its worth noting that Kent plays mainly down the left.

What happened to Roberts the City youngster being touted as the next big think a couple of years back. Also the scouting of teams who have done well this season yet falling outside the playoffs. Reading have some talented youngsters but desperate to clear their massive debt. Exeter seem to scout and unearth gems

Re: Right winger options for summer?
Ryan Gauld would be a free transfer, he'd be an absolutely perfect fit for us as he's a player who looks to create quickly, has a goal threat, is very hard working defensively and has a great attitude too. Low risk with no fee and coming from Portugal even our average wage would be a massive increase for him.
If we're looking to spend then Ritsu Doan would be another really good fit for the same reasons (can't comment on his attitude though as haven't heard anything about him off field). He's young and being Japanese would be a massive commercial asset for the club too.

Have you got any useful stats to back these suggestions up - not sure being young and Japanese is an in depth analysis.Mattster wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 7:54 amRyan Gauld would be a free transfer, he'd be an absolutely perfect fit for us as he's a player who looks to create quickly, has a goal threat, is very hard working defensively and has a great attitude too. Having said that, have we got video of him on the scouting app which could be enough to swing the deal

Tiger76- I agree wholeheartedly but unless there's a change in our transfer strategy from our manager/club, then this is the age group of player where I expect any monies will be spent.

He must have been injured at every club he has been on loan at since the glory spell at Celtic
Less than 50 appearances and 1 goal in 3 years at different clubs

Re: Right winger options for summer?
This is more of a speculative punt.
Brennan Johnson is predominantly a LW but can play on the right and behind the striker.
He is 19 years old and on loan to Lincoln. He has had a great season with 7 goals and 11 assists in 34 games. He is expected to be starting for his parent club (forest) next season.
Would be a good one to get in now.

Know you're being sarcastic, weird you're so threatened by stats. I also said something about his qualities beyond being young and Japenese if you have a read.
But ask and ye shall receive...
Vs. All Bundesliga wingers...
He plays for Arminia Bielefeld who are a relegation battling side with not much of a different style as ourselves.

Re: Right winger options for summer?
Two lads who have been on loan and should improve for it are.
Harvey Elliott at Blackburn from Liverpool. Seemed to be having a really good impact until their form dropped like a lead balloon.
Cengiz Under at Leicester from Roma. They won't be taking the option up of buying him as he has been inconsistent. But foreign players are famous for needing a year to bed into the premier league so should improve his consistency this year. Looked unplayable at times and would be a good signing for us.

Before this develops into a full-on transfer window thread, it's worth reminding everyone of the rules:
A) If you suggest a player, you must be able to demonstrate that you know more about him than our recruitment team
B) If you suggest we need an upgrade in a position, you will be expected to name names (then see A)
C) Anyone you do suggest will not be signing for us as there is nobody in world football that could improve our first team who would lower themselves to playing for us in the Premier League on 50k a week
Anyway, crack on.

Taking A B and C into account it has left me with giving Brady a 12 month extension

Re: Right winger options for summer?
Jed Wallace at Millwall is probably more like where we'll be looking
Re: Right winger options for summer?
Relegation battling side ?
It's not just the footballing style that's the same then
He will fit straight in, providing he is "Dyche fit"
Sorry, but couldn't resist that offer
Re: Right winger options for summer?
Yes. Players that have experience of playing under similar pressures and styles would be something we would want to consider as it makes the adjustment (especially across different leagues) easier. Ryan Gauld is the same, he plays for Farense who are currently battling relegation and their style is to get the ball into dangerous areas as quickly as possible (Gauld is given a bit more of a free role in attack than he would probably get here but he plays in a very disciplined defensive role like we deploy).
Re: Right winger options for summer?
Surely Lundstrum would be our main target, right sided, free and pl experience would fit all our criteria, I think jed Wallace could be a good signing too
Re: Right winger options for summer?
Lundstram is right centre rather than wide right but still a good shout to improve that midfield area

We are a massive step up for anyone playing in Scotland
Re: Right winger options for summer?
Personally don't think Lundstram adds much to our team other than depth, barring a bit of a purple patch last season he doesn't really offer anything special he's just a bit of an all rounder. Think he'd be Hendrick mk.2 for us.

Re: Right winger options for summer?
The lad who scored against us on Sunday for Newcastle, Murphy, has yet to sign a new contract at Newcastle, largely because he's been in and out of the side by all accounts. But even before Sunday, he's struck me as a very "Burnley" type of player, and he's a genuine, hard working winger with a bit of pace and a good delivery.
Re: Right winger options for summer?
I totally agree with you but I still think that's who we will be looking at because he is free and he should fit our wage structure

I think crossing ability must be crucial, we need much better delivery from the wings and hopefully the dead ball line.

Re: Right winger options for summer?
I previously said Jeremy Doku, maybe a couple of years ago after I saw him a few times play for the Belgium youth sides, he's now moved to Rennes in France for £20m+ as a teenager.
Orsic at Dinamo Zagreb, scored a great hattrick against Spurs in the Europa League. West Brom almost signed him, deal fell through.
Reiss Nelson, can't get a sniff at Arsenal, young and pacey, worth a chance.
Steven Berghuis, now a starter for Holland, no idea why he's still in the Dutch league.
Calvin Stengs, looks a good player, great left foot on him.
Edin Visca, played against us in the Europa League, he was excellent for that Turkish side.
I'd be looking in the small leagues at decent sized clubs but clubs we can financially blow out of the water.

They are all great options to be fair. I just don’t think we stand much chance due to finances. I assume most of them are north of a 10m fee.KRBFC wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 2:27 pmI previously said Jeremy Doku, maybe a couple of years ago after I saw him a few times play for the Belgium youth sides, he's now moved to Rennes in France for £20m+ as a teenager.

Robbie Brady or John Berg Gudmundsson
Re: Right winger options for summer?
Think Harvey Elliott would be a good player for us. Has impressed down the road but I think Liverpool may want to keep him. Loan deal could be the answer.
I'll go for an ambitious shout in Xherdan Shaqiri. Think his time at Liverpool is coming to a close and at 29 he might want first team football somewhere and might want to stay in the north. That being said I'm not sure on his wage demands and how realistic they are for a club like us. Would expect someone like West Ham to blow us out of the water with wages but I think he would be perfect for us.

Re: Right winger options for summer?
Some are pie in the sky, no way we'd have a shot at a player like Stengs for example who has been linked to Barcelona in the last year. Doku too, he's been linked to Liverpool since he was 16 so if he manages the step up to Ligue 1 he's moving to a bigger club than us for a fee well out of our reach. Berghuis apparently would be available for around £8m due to a clause in his contract but he's 30 in December and his last move to England didn't go very well, given his current season output and international status I think he'll be looking for a bigger payday than we can offer. Visca is 31, has been playing Champions League this season and missed half this season with injury, can't see it to be honest and I'd prefer us to bring the average age down.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 2:57 pmThey are all great options to be fair. Reiss Nelson could be a possible, this Summer would be the one shot we'd have at it given his contract situation and lack of football at Arsenal. I'm not sure he has the defensive qualities/effort that we require though.
Re: Right winger options for summer?
Doku has already gone, went to Rennes for £20M 6 months ago. I wouldn't say Rennes are a bigger club than us tbh. I don't think the fee 2 years ago when I mentioned him would've been out of our reach, was just highlighting what I believe was a missed opportunity.Mattster wrote: ↑Wed Apr 14, 2021 4:06 pmSome are pie in the sky, no way we'd have a shot at a player like Stengs for example who has been linked to Barcelona in the last year. Istanbul have been shocking this season, I see no reason why Visca would stay there, poor league, poor team, could earn more here.
Berghuis was at Watford like 8 years ago right? I don't remember him playing for anyone else in England.
Stengs looks a crazy talent, wouldn't be surprised to see him move to a big club, that suggestion was definitely pie in the sky.

I would expect our budget to be below 10m and max wages on offer probs 40k.
Narrows down the list quite significantly. If we are Being realistic I think the best we can hope for is a young talent from LG 1 or championship.
I think Dembele (Peterborough) or Brennan Johnson are fairly realistic targets this summer.
Re: Right winger options for summer?

Berghuis was at Watford 5 years ago. I'd say given the fee he's apparently available for I'm not sure we'd be able to compete on the wages - especially if he has a good Euros.
Basaksehir were paying Adebayor £50k a week a couple of seasons ago, I would imagine their captain/best player will be on similar given he signed a new 5 year deal this summer when they'd qualified for the Champions League.

Re: Right winger options for summer?
I don’t think it’s out of our reach to spend £15 million again with the new owners. After all, we have spent 10+ numerous times so with new owners let’s see.
Re: Right winger options for summer?
Few suggestions of Harvey Elliott but from what my Rovers supporting mates tell me they want him out of their squad.
They say his attitude stinks, thinks he’s something special and is regularly on social media, for example showing off a trick he did in a game (even if the trick didn’t even come off apparently). You can kinda tell that about him simply by looking at him...
Sounds like the opposite of a Dyche player.
John Lundstram would be my number 1 target and wouldn’t be disappointed if we went back in for Harry Wilson. Would also like Jeff Schlupp, left winger, as cover for Dwight. Believe his contract is also up this summer.
Schlupp, Lundstram and Wilson in with Brady out and we’d look like a different squad. And at not too much extra cost!
