Burnley to get cash cash boost
Burnley are set to receive a cash boost as they are to split 83m with the rest of the premier league clubs, due to the immediate return of Norwich and Watford to the league.
Furthermore if Bournemouth win the play offs, that figure will rise again meaning an even bigger cash boost for those in the premier league.
Although the figure is only 4-5m per club at the moment, it will surely be a big boost for us compared to many other clubs in the league, and who knows, the figure could be nearer 7m should Bournemouth also go up.
I do want Burnley to have as much money as possible to spend this summer to improve both the 1st team and the facilities, however would it be better if this extra bonus money if you like was distributed through the football and national leagues to those clubs who are seriously effected by covid?
Many clubs , players and staff are seriously struggling further down the ladder, so maybe safeguarding those should take priority?
Or possibly taking the "bonus money" off those big 6 who wanted to break away, and distributing that.
It could be between 25 and 40m just from those 6 clubs alone, and would go some way to keeping many clubs afloat.

We get one most years whenever a promoted club was still in the parachute window, including this year because of Fulham and West Brom,

Pretty irrelevant really...
Lobbing a few extra million into the trough simply means there will be even more money spunked on the same goods.
Good news for players and agents mind.

Or you could say we are closer to getting our money back on Gibson due to Norwich's promotion
8m if they went up + 4-5 million

Fee for Gibson believed to be 15m if all add ons were met, I very much doubt they got 10m for him in the end.
He was cover for a while, we got an 3m loan fee for him this season, and 8m agreed if they went up, I'd guess we have broke even or possibly even made a few quid on him.
Very much doubt any of the bonus money we get for Watford and Norwich going up will need to be included.

I assume Boro will have a sell on clause, maybe 20-25%?

Standard sell on clause kicks in if the fee we sell at is greater than we paid - i.e. it s a % of the uplift in value - never heard of one that doesn't work that way - this was also a generic question on the Price of Football Podcast on Monday - same answer

Just imagine if that money was dropped into the bottom two divisions...

I think when we get the money that morally we should help those clubs struggling under horrendous debt , to that end I propose that the rubber bands holding all those lovely crisp piles of £20 notes are donated to Bstards .

It’ll make no difference, as above it’ll be immediately hoovered up by agents and players.
I’d prefer it to help every non league and grassroots club in the country to survive over the next 12 months.

That tends to be covered by the work of the Football foundation and the Premier League already give to that every year, the premier League also helped the women's game, paying for testing to the top 2 tiers could continue,NottsClaret wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 3:58 pmIt’ll make no difference, as above it’ll be immediately hoovered up by agents and players.

The Government agreed that if football looked after the Professional game, it would look after the non-league and grass roots, it ended up diverting lottery funding to cover the first half of the season, from other charitable causes and overseeing an absolute pigs ear in it's distribution. Then instead of providing grants, for the remainder of the season it offered loans, but only clubs that have been very poorly run are eligible - it has been an absolute scandal.

What a state of affairs - money for nothing.
Can I say how important it is to keep this Burnley Model going. What’s all this noise about buying players with the extra cash. We have to use our judgement, we have bought and sold wisely on the whole. I think we have a wonderful team, only players like Kane De Bruyne Sterling and others of the calibre will bring greater success.
