Credit where it’s due
We didn’t deserve anything there. Not because we were particularly poor. But West Ham were excellent there.
Moyes has got them playing fantastic. If you don’t look at the players names ( something many no doubt with us) that’s the best West Ham side I’ve seen at this level.
Pace. Power. Strength and Skill. Exactly how I’d like to watch us play.
They’ve had great individual players like Di Canio, Lampard, Carrick, Defoe, Ferdinand, Cole etc. But as a team they looked very good. Caught us time after time on the counter attack.
Also the crossing they had from out wide was another constant option.
Look much better than any West Ham we have faced. Hope they pip Chelsea to fourth.

West Ham were great. Our midfield were way off it. Put the two together and you end up with a game like that.

I think that was the most dominant away performance I've seen from anyone at the Turf. Man City just bore me to death, at least WHU were a bit more exciting

They were excellent but we gave them too much space right from the start.

Re: Credit where it’s due
Agreed they were really good, especially on the break. I thought moyes was a busted flush but fair play to him, he's got them playing brilliantly and has a good squad there. I was a bit disappointed with us last 20, West ham have conceded some late goals and we couldn't find a rhythm to put pressure on them. But overall, fair result and we move onto Fulham. Please lord, let it be over after that 90 minutes!
Re: Credit where it’s due
Thought West Ham were terrific, not many teams would have lived with that. Lingard absolutley outstanding, gave no one a minute on the ball... and as for Antonio, my god what a player he is.

Au contraire. We were very poor at the back.
None of the back 5 played well. We gifted them their goals.

Tonight we saw a perfect illustration as to why we don't purposely water the pitch before games and at half time when we are playing sides who break at pace, are excellent on the ball and zip the ball about. They were simply too hot for us to handle tonight..

Re: Credit where it’s due
Any side that can move the ball forwards quickly with pace will cause us problems. West Ham did just that. Our midfield and right back were way off the pace, though if Jay hadn't missed from inside the 6 yard box again, we may have nicked an undeserved point.

Re: Credit where it’s due
Poor game management from us, again, and poor performances all the way across the back four. But West Ham were very good, and when we come up against a better side who are playing at the top of their game we need to be at 100% to have a chance of taking the points and we weren’t close to that.

Re: Credit where it’s due
I think that was because of the pressure they were under relentlessly from pace and power though the middle. Pace and crossing from out wide.
West Ham dominated. They worked hard. Created. And never gave up.
Sometimes the other team is just too good. Tonight was one of those nights.

Excellent team selection by David Moyes where the stated intention was to come to Burnley, attack, and leave with all 3 points.
A job well done and a deserved win for the Hammers.

A bit of both i'd say. We were certainly poor across midfield and looked stale at the back. Pace and wide players troubled us all through. They are a good side but on another day we could have taken a point.

Re: Credit where it’s due
I thought we did ourselves credit, despite West Ham’s superiority. Stayed in the game right to the end. I thought the passing was a lot more snappy than is often the case. Got the ball out wide, good crosses. Just not quite enough quality where needed, but no disgrace.

Wolves had nothing left to play for whereas West Ham picked an attacking lineup to get all 3 points and challenge for a top 4 PL finish.Guitargeorge wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 10:27 pm“I think that was the most dominant away performance I've seen from anyone at the Turf“

Unfortunately shows that there is only one way to go if we continue our poor recruiting policy. Each season we see certain PL teams getting better, and having the capacity to completely dominate us at Turf Moor.
Saved this season by amazing spirit and a manager who has exceeded expectations once again.
Next season will be make or break if you ask me, our team needs quite a bit of surgery

Yes fair do's they were good tonight West Ham, their technical players were right at it which had us chasing shadows for periods.
Disappointing that we conceded a goal very similar to Calvert-Lewin's for Everton at home.

We got what we deserved, as did West Ham.

Listened to the match on the radio and it sounded
as if West Ham were the better team - by far.
Don't mind losing to good teams and performances
and hope we don't have many, if any similar situations in our last 4.
The key is our next game.
Mustn't lose this as that would put the shivers on again and give Fulham hope
that they could still win 2 more games.

They'd done their homework. Pressure us and we make errors. Double up down the left flank and Charlie and Dwight hit a brick wall. Not to mention they have pace too which we struggle with

They played well but virtually ALL of our team were either poor or well below par. Any team that might have 2 or 3 off it will struggle at this level.

I wanted Burnley to win. But, I also want West Ham to finish in the top 4 above Chelsea - so that 4 of the big 6 miss out on the European Championship next season.

Sky and Dyche both acknowledged we played well. It was a very fast physical game. And West Ham deserved it.

I have always rated moyes, not got anything against west ham. not good to lose, but at least they can play and its good to watch when they are on their game. prefer west ham over any of their ponce local rivals.

Re: Credit where it’s due
biggest difference in WHU this season is Moyes has stopped a lot of the rolling around cheating they used to do. Lanzini used to fall over 20 times a game, didn't do it once tonight so they were much more fluent in their play

Re: Credit where it’s due
Have just seen highlights and the goals.
Their second was poor defensively and possibly a tad fortunate
given two of ours just missed connnecting with the cross.
But one could also say it was a brilliant cross and anticipation
from Antonio to get in their afore Tarks - I think it was.
But we rarely looked like scoring a second while WH looked
more likely to score more.
Below par compared to last match against a team
that played well. We're never likely to get anything
if that's the scenario.
Prior to tonight in our last three losses we've played
reasonably well and lost them all.

Re: Credit where it’s due
Thought first half was a relatively even contest but they really took control in the second. Excellent side.
Re: Credit where it’s due
West Ham were excellent and Moyes had their tactics spot on. They overpowered us in midfield. Antonio is a strong lad and is difficult to mark. Moyes will have a smile on his face this morning walking his dog in Lytham.

West Ham have been a good watch anytime I have seen them this season, Leeds have had a lot of smoke blown up their arse but the football played by West Ham is miles above and hasn't had half the love in.
Moyes done a great job there.

This wasn't a poor performance by us. We were playing an expensively assembled top six team who also happen to have an excellence manager. Despite the result, I thought it was a good game to watch.

Our marking should have been a lot better, but Antonio was awesome last night, when you take into account it was his first game back after injury.
Hellishly difficult to play against.

Re: Credit where it’s due
That is obvious though isn't it. When we lose it is mainly because we were s**t. Cast your mind back a week and we won mainly because the opposition was s**t.
Just goes to show as well 2 negatives don't always make a positive. Let's hope Fulham are s**t next Monday and we might be able to get something
