Chelsea-Real
Just kicked off Hazard in the Real side, he'll surely have a point to prove to his previous employers.
So will we be seeing another all-English final, or will Real get another chance to add to their record number of European titles.

You could be right it wouldn't surprise me if it want all the way to ET and perhaps even pens, the 1st leg showed how evenly matched these sides are.

Re: Chelsea-Real
What a time for Werner to come to the party, that said it doesn't change much because RM had to score tonight whatever, but it will surely give Chelsea a huge lift. Big save by Mendy moments prior to the goal also, that could prove a vital couple of minutes in the tie.

Chelsea just have miles more energy.
Re: Chelsea-Real
Don't really like watching English sides play each other in European football. If it's City and Chelsea in final will probably be cagey as hell and just cancel each other out.

Re: Chelsea-Real
Kanté certainly does he's been everywhere, age catching up with this Real Madrid side finally?, mind you it is only 1-0 and a goal for Real completely changes the complexion of the tie. And they have been a threat, hence why Mendy has had to produce a couple of vital stops.

How good is Mendy??? Hard to split the top three but he's starting to edge it as my #1.

Yep it shows just how hard it is to manage the top clubs and try to build a squad capable of winning trophies. I bet Tuchel dreams of being able to get away with signing £1m midfielders

Yep you do get the nagging feeling Chelsea will live to regret all those missed chances, Havertz and Mount in particular should have done better.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 9:22 pmChelsea should be out of sight

Courtois returning to haunt his old team how often does that happen.
Pulisic on for Chelsea maybe he can find the net and finish this tie off.

He seems to improve with age also, he was immense at Leicester, but at Chelsea he's taken his game to another level.

Re: Chelsea-Real
For all the plaudits Phil Foden gets at the moment Mason Mount is playing just as well in arguably a lesser team.

Mount's not had a bad game either, finally Chelsea put the tie to bed, and Pulisic playing a big role from the bench again.

3/4 English sides in European finals, if Arsenal make it 4/4 that's some European domination

I always tell my mate how lucky he was when I took him to his first football game, away at Chelsea in 2019, really fun 2-2 draw and got to see Hazard when he was still close to his peak.

Re: Chelsea-Real
That would be a heck of an achievement having a clean sweep in 2 of the last 3 seasons, considering it'd never happened prior to 2019.
And this just shows how well Burnley are doing to even be attempting to compete with these type of clubs, and it also makes our rare triumphs over them all the sweeter when it happens.

Chelsea superb again. Should have so easily have been 20-1 on aggregate.
Very subdued celebrations in contrast to Manchester City last night. Chelsea to win it for me.

More like it goes to show that money talks. When 12 of the EPL make the top 30 of the football money league in Europe its no wonder we've got the most teams challenging for the trophiestiger76 wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 9:59 pmThat would be a heck of an achievement having a clean sweep in 2 of the last 3 seasons, considering it'd never happened prior to 2019.

Given the amount of cash swilling around the EPL it makes you wonder if we under achieved a bit when we made it into Europe

Who said oil and gas were finished? Greta and her apostles. Maybe we should get 20,000 solar panels on the roofs of the stands at Turf Moor and two massive wind turbines blowing behind whichever way we are playing.

Really hope Arsenal get through tomorrow to make it all English finals. Also nice that Foden, Mount & to a lesser extent Greenwood are academy products playing their part in taking their parts in taking their clubs to the summit of European football.tiger76 wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 9:59 pmThat would be a heck of an achievement having a clean sweep in 2 of the last 3 seasons, considering it'd never happened prior to 2019.

A lot of things annoyed me about the ESL, but one was that the PL is now in such a good position to effectively become the defacto ESL.
With Messi ooc this year, Ronaldo allegedly looking to move on, Haarland available next summer and Mbappe/Neymar ooc also, there’s every chance the PL could be the Super League if it focussed on securing their services.

Well this “people” brought it up because invariably all we will hear from Sky (and other “sport” channels/radio stations) is how great the English game is and how we are dominating Europe, when in fact, “we” aren’t.
I will wait for the next international tournament to see how dominant the English game is...

Yeah we could be like the Chinese league, where previous world class players go to see out their time with one last massive payday, and English clubs could boast about how big a club they are in World football by securing the services of these players....NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 10:20 pmReally hope Arsenal get through tomorrow to make it all English finals. Re: Chelsea-Real
The money is obviously a big factor, but let's be real here clubs such as Barca, Bayern, PSG and Real aren't exactly impoverished are they, and there was a period recently when Spanish teams appeared to be the force in Europe, now it's the turn of England to rule the roost, and probably in a few years somebody else will come to the fore.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 10:09 pmMore like it goes to show that money talks. Our European adventure ended much too soon alas, but it's worth remembering we were eliminated by a very decent Olympiacos outfit, and some key decisions didn't go our way in Greece, plus in the home leg we wasted countless chances, shame really as it looks unlikely we'll be competing on the continent again anytime soon.
