Fulham win their next 3 games and Burnley and Newcastle lose theirs. By my reckoning that will mean all 3 clubs on 36 points with Fulham playing Newcastle on the last day and Burnley at Sheff United. This would mean Burnley having to win to ensure avoiding relegation. We could of course lose or draw and survive on gd.
I am not for 1 second suggesting or expecting this scenario will happen but in Sport anything can and often does happen. Remember Aston Villa ?

Re: Be interesting if
Be absolutely disasterous if that happened but not impossible.
Can't see it happening as Newcastle still have Sheff. United to play at home
before they face Fulham so can't see them losing that one.
And Fulham still have to go to Old Trafford.
Fullham have to beat us on Monday.
If they don't then can't see them winning their remaining 3 games.
So it's relatively simple for us as long as we don't lose to Fulham.
We could still lose all our remaining games and stay up.
Come on you Clarets.
Let's put to bed any relegation concerns and beat Fulham.

Let's just get a result on Monday night then we can put this miserable season to bed and forget about it.

I was talking more about the lack of fans. Football is mainly about the day out and social aspect which has been completely lost.
Re: Be interesting if
Sorry jrgbfc, yeah miserable that we couldn't get to these games, indeed, what a fantastic day out it is with the lads. Love getting the train at Manchester for a trip down London.......roĺl on next season. UTC.

Well! I think we can safely say Newcastle aren't going to lose all their games.

We can lose all our games
Not score any goals
And still stay up
Id say at least 5 clear of fulham

he'll not sleep this weekend.
Re: Be interesting if
I shall sleep this weekend ElectroClaret but yes I shall
be nervous come Monday night and shall probably not listen to the match
but check out how we're doing on the BBC website.
I will be delighted and relieved if we win.
And worried if we lose but not let it get me down for too long.
Usually a few hours and less so if it's an evening kick off.
If we lose I shall feel the same on Saturday when we face Leeds and Fulham play Southampton.
Obviously much less so if we get a draw at Fulham.
it may well be over by the end of Saturday. Let's hope so.
Unfortunately the umbilical cord that I still have attached to my being
for almost 60 years is still firmly rooted. There are/were times when I wished it wasn't.
But then I've watched and followed Burnley since my first ever match way back in 69/70 (glory days, you could say)
and seen them drop down through the leagues to the point where they almost went out.
And then watched them slowly climb back up and the last 8 or so years
have been close to unbelievable. If not close to a miracle at time.
Believe me I'm grateful for that.
But I want it to continue and see if we can improve
albeit survival will always be our first goal.

Re: Be interesting if
I am confident enough in our team to come back from Fulham with something. That should put an end to the ‘mathematically certain ‘ argument that keeps the drama queens going.
I could be wrong for once and we might have to rely on relegation threatened Newcastle or potential Europa Cup winners and PL runners up to beat a poor Fulham team.
It’s so nerve wracking

But what will we talk about after we are safe. Summer signings will be a short conversation

Re: Be interesting if
Worst thing for us at the moment is that Newcastle now, will probably not need a win at Fulham.
Re: Be interesting if
And when Man U play Fulham they may have guaranteed 2nd in league and have nothing to play for, resting their stars for the EL final....
Re: Be interesting if
If we can't get 2 points from two of the bottom three clubs we don't deserve to stay up.
Re: Be interesting if
What about Southampton though? Unless they win at Liverpool they will go into the Fulham game still not safe.RammyClaret61 wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 4:55 amWorst thing for us at the moment is that Newcastle now, will probably not need a win at Fulham.
They are hardly going to play easy against Fulham
Re: Be interesting if
After their loss to Liverpool Southampton are one point ahead of us which means they now have to make sure they don't lose against Fulham (just to be on the safe side).
Re: Be interesting if
All in our hands on Monday night - assuming West Brom lose tomorrow, a win for us Monday means it’s all over for both Fulham and West Brom
Re: Be interesting if
Doesn't matter what West Brom do tomorrow if we win on Monday.
Edit: sorry, just realised you meant the overall position, not just ours.

Re: Be interesting if
We win Monday and 3 boring games left as nothing to play for, would prefer that than listening to Fulham are going to catch us Oh God No, they were never going to catch us. Just a rant but hey ho we will sort it out Monday.

If we win on Monday, and I do so hope we do, I hope we don’t treat the last three games as meaningless. I really want us to beat Leeds.

Southampton play Palace at home before they take on Fulham so they could be safe and on the beach.

Re: Be interesting if
No game should be meaningless for us, we could yet finish as high as 12th, I doubt we will finish that high, but with a good run in our last 4 games it's possible depending on what others do, so if we do get a result at Fulham I sincerely hope we don't get the deckchairs out for the final 3 games, whatever we need to try and finish as high as we can as every place is worth a fair amount of dosh, and the higher we can come the more likely we might be to recruit decent signings this summer, whereas if we limp home in 17th only a couple of points above the drop zone, potential signings might think twice before committing to BFC for next season.
And yes you're spot on that we owe Leeds one after that daylight robbery at Elland Road, whether we'll beat them could well depend on which Leeds turn up, if it's the Leeds that played at Brighton we have every chance of all 3 points, however if it's the Leeds who blew Spurs away yesterday it'll be a tough ask to get anything.

If Brighton don't get anything at wolves today , they could be in trouble looking at their final fixtures . Quite ironic their fans would be supporting us tomorrow !!

I wouldn’t class being effectively 11 points clear of the drop zone with 4 to play as anywhere near in trouble.expoultryboy wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 10:55 amIf Brighton don't get anything at wolves today , they could be in trouble looking at their final fixtures .
