Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Early I know, but the rumour mill seems to have started early this year, and with the impending Euros, it might give us a chance to have a look at some of the linked players in action.

As posted on the previous thread (January window), I think we could do a lot worse than enquire about Adam Armstrong. Finished the campaign on 28 goals for a side that finished comfortably in the bottom half. Looks to have a lot of good attributes.

If we want to annoy our NEIGHbours try for a Harvey Elliott loan. He’d be excellent on our right wing and as he is a grafter would slot in no bother.

28 goal in an average side, he's no longer an under the radar pick, will receive a lot of interest.
Nixon saying Venkys won't let him go except for a big fee. Mowberry the same
"For Adam's sake let's hope the phone rings and someone offers us a ridiculous amount of money."
West Ham & Newcastle both reported as interested, the sorts of team he'll go to who have the funds to hoover up the first picks of the championship.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Armstrong only has a year left on his deal. They’ll have to sell this summer.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
What about Brooks at Bournemouth if they don't go up? After a quiet season he may be going under the radar a bit? Probably still out of our reach but there's no harm in trying. We desperately need some younger legs.

Said the same myself. Small quick tricky and confident in front of goal.
Having seen his goals yesterday though does explain a lot mind. Keeper should have saved at least two of his goals. Both of which went through him.

Brentford will be expecting offers in the region of £30m to £35m for the services of Ivan Toney, assuming they don't go up via the play-offs, so cannot see Armstrong going for less than £25m given the fact that he has scored goals for fun in the Championship and has put himself in the shop window for all to see.
Brentford took a calculated punt on Toney (as they did with Ollie Watkins) and it has paid off for them financially.

Would love to see us go for John Fleck at Sheffield Utd,i think he would slot into our midfield very easily.

If money is going to be in short supply we need to sort midfield before even thinking about someone like Armstrong
And, of course, possible replacement for Tarks (given the way Leicester defended on Friday night his value to them may have even increased)
Watching Derby v Sheff Weds yesterday, Adam Reach could be a low cost option as cover for Dwight. Yes he is 28 but has an excellent left foot and is out of contract this summer

If the post about Armstrong only having a year left on his contract is correct there is no way anyone would pay £25m for him.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 10:16 amBrentford will be expecting offers in the region of £30m to £35m for the services of Ivan Toney, assuming they don't go up via the play-offs, so cannot see Armstrong going for less than £25m given the fact that he has scored goals for fun in the Championship and has put himself in the shop window for all to see.

Rovers would need to take what they can get or keep him and gamble they can turn from mid-table fodder to promotion challengers.

Brentford continue to turn out gems, must be very frustrating for their support to see them continually sold, would love to see Brentford in the Premier league.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 10:16 amBrentford will be expecting offers in the region of £30m to £35m for the services of Ivan Toney, assuming they don't go up via the play-offs, so cannot see Armstrong going for less than £25m given the fact that he has scored goals for fun in the Championship and has put himself in the shop window for all to see.

It’s a difficult one because we’ve two fantastic players in the middle who have given us great service and still turn in some very good performances.
We’ve also probably not seen the best from Brownhill yet.
Quite who I’d want in and who I’d replace (if one or both weren’t prepared to sit on the bench a bit more, I don’t know).
The obvious area for improvement is the right wing and dare I say it, right back.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
The current cover for McNeil is Pieters hence Reach as a low cost option. New starter at WR with JBG as cover. Extra CM to seriously challenge for starts (which Stephens won't be doing)

JBG should be cover for Dwight as he is often made to play on the right. We need a pacy and talented right sided wide player-end of story, who can go straight in the team, not someone like Reach

Similar comments also apply to other clubs such as Peterborough who, having replaced Ivan Toney with Jonson Clarke-Harris, are now expecting the striker to leave in the next transfer window despite the club having secured promotion to the Championship.
If Posh lose Harris (scorer of 33 goals this campaign) and Siriki Dembele (chipped in with numerous goals and assists) how long can they stay in the Championship?

Juninho Bacuna of Huddersfield will be in the last year of his contract if and when Huddersfield exercise their 1 year option on him, he had potential , not sure how he’s developed since they went down from the prem. I see we’ve been linked to O’Brien again though also of the Udds.

Agree with this. Hasn’t had the best season, but that potentially creates an opportunity. Wouldn’t mind Billing at all either.

It’s a funny old game. A lot of our fans seem to think Dwight is valued in that category, despite Toney having never kicked a ball in the Prem.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 10:16 amBrentford will be expecting offers in the region of £30m to £35m for the services of Ivan Toney, assuming they don't go up via the play-offs, so cannot see Armstrong going for less than £25m given the fact that he has scored goals for fun in the Championship and has put himself in the shop window for all to see.
I think this summer will be an interesting one because I don’t think there will be a lot of clubs with that kind of money to spend on players, so it’ll be interesting to see if they drop their prices or hang on.

Peterborough without Jonson Clarke-Harris (33 goals) and Siriki Dembele today but they have still scored 4 in the first half away from home

Kiril Despodov currently on loan with Ludogorets is a right sided, right footed winger, 24 who left the Bulgarian league to join Cagliari in Serie A , he only made 5 apps for them before going out on loan to Sturm Graz in Austria where he scored 8 times in 19 apps. This seasons loan with Ludogorets has seen him score 4 times and making 9 assists in 17 apps. Perhaps someone worth keeping an eye on, wouldn’t command a massive fee I’d imagine, could be a steal in there.

Agree. A first team-ready, quality RW needs to be the priority this summer. No scrimping. Then also a back up LW with pace. Annoying really because a few have left the Championship in recent seasons who would have been fine filling in the back up positions.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 11:03 amJBG should be cover for Dwight as he is often made to play on the right. Dissapointing that we've not seen more youth breaking into the first team, from the few we have seen we've not seen enough to form an opinion.its time for our Recruitment department to step up.We now need to see more youth with pace. Talking to one of my Leeds supporting neighbours who tells me they have a number of young lads again in their Acadamy not far away from the first team all of which have pace, apparently that's a pre requisite of Bielsa, they certainly seem to find them.

Would love to see us go for someone like Jonathan Bamba at Lille. Pace to burn, tricky winger who weighs in with goals. The type of player who gets you off your seat.

Lille are on the brink of winning the Ligue 1 title and Champions League football. No way we'd be able to afford him even if he'd be willing to trade that in for Burnley.FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 2:05 pmWould love to see us go for someone like Jonathan Bamba at Lille. For me Ryan Gauld would be a brilliant option for us to play in the wide right position. Has been one of, if not the, best player in Portugal this season. Has everything we're looking for and the kind of attitude that Dyche would love. Out of contract in summer too so perfect for us.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Bacuna hasn’t developed at all , as for O’Brien he’s been played out of position recently so it’s difficult to say if he can make the step up,but he doesn’t look strong enough to me.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 12:39 pmJuninho Bacuna of Huddersfield will be in the last year of his contract if and when Huddersfield exercise their 1 year option on him, he had potential , not sure how he’s developed since they went down from the prem. Leeds Youth Team have got 15 points in 24 games.... maybe they should look for footballers, rather than sprinters, cos whatever they're finding, I am not sure it's premier league footballers.beddie wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 1:23 pmDissapointing that we've not seen more youth breaking into the first team, from the few we have seen we've not seen enough to form an opinion.its time for our Recruitment department to step up.We now need to see more youth with pace. One of those players who I’ve always looked out for since he got me 40+ goals in a season for my Crawley Town team on Football Manager. On that basis alone, I’d sign him tomorrow!Mattster wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 2:27 pmFor me Ryan Gauld would be a brilliant option for us to play in the wide right position. As grumps says, to avoid being misquoted or making a linguistic error. I suspect it would be almost impossible to get what he’s got out of those players without being able to communicate

Dyche tends to return to old targets, as we’ve seen many times.
As a result, Robin Quaison who is now out of contract at Mainz and available on a free transfer would not shock me in the slightest.

Definitely does speak English.
Seen him on the local news chattering away to his elderly neighbours in Wetherby.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Exactly, as did Pochettino for quite a long time when he managed Southampton
He wouldn't want to be having to wear a beanie like Beckham did when he spoke for the first time in Spanish at Real Madrid
Even worse speak like MaClaren did in the infamous interview at FC Twente
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Been brilliant this season, Boro's POTY.
Don't think he's the right kind of CB to replace Tarks though, not got the physical presence. Technically very good though.
