Straw Poll - Phase 2 renewals / Direct Debit option
Straw Poll - Phase 2 renewals / Direct Debit option
The club haven't yet announced if Phase 2 renewals will be offered a Direct Debit/instalment option. Obviously due to timescales they wouldn't be able to offer the usual
12 x monthly payment option but they could possibly do an 8 monthly option or something similar. If you're a Phase 2 renewer, how would having no DD option affect your ability to renew?

Re: Straw Poll - Phase 2 renewals / Direct Debit option
I prefer to pay cash up front so it's all done and dusted for the season.
Hopefully when I turn up on the 24th is it ? with my cash, I will be sorted.

Yes you’re correct Tony. But you get my drift that I will pay the lump sum as and when I can.

Yes it unfortunately affects my ability to renew my 3 tickets.

Makes no difference to me - I always pay up front.

Re: Straw Poll - Phase 2 renewals / Direct Debit option
Finding £300-400 upfront would be a struggle for lots. In most years except this one I would have to borrow it from somewhere.
I would like to add that I've paid up with DD already and fortunately my income has not been affected by coronavirus unlike many friends.

I have paid up front before but prefer the DD option even if it’s over 8 months.

The interest that you will make by paying as late as possible may make you a penny in a decent account, good plan!

And he'll run the risk of the window being closed early and without notice!PaintYorkClaretnBlue wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 8:58 amThe interest that you will make by paying as late as possible may make you a penny in a decent account, good plan!

Another who will pay upfront as soon as we get chance. That is for the same three seats we have had as a family for 25 years. Having got caught out by the unannounced closure of the 2020/21 early bird have been attempting to renew ever since and was assured by the ticket office last December that we would not be disadvantaged. Does not feel like that at present though 3 points tomorrow will help

Re: Straw Poll - Phase 2 renewals / Direct Debit option
Thanks for the advice lads. Last time I checked the money sat in my account was earned by me and was mine to decide how I used it - well the disposable part of it anyway.
Obviously the approach has left me potentially without a season ticket next year, but I’m not related to Nostradamus, so I don’t have any ability to forecast worldwide pandemics.
If they close the window early again without notice, it’ll mean that things are rapidly going south once again, so it won’t be just us Phase 2 folk who won’t be going on Turf Moor next season.

Just to add some balance to this, I thought that the club extended the early bird window - not closed it early? They then closed it without warning at a point where it became clear to them that there wouldn’t be fans attending for the majority of the season. So those who usually wait until the end of the window had a longer period of time to renew than they usually would.agreenwood wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 11:01 amThanks for the advice lads. Obviously nobody could predict exactly how the pandemic would play out. Some people felt comfortable leaving their money with the club and understood the advantages and disadvantages that this would bring, others chose to keep their money also knowing the pros and cons of this decision.
Forgive me, but I also don’t buy this excuse about the window closing early. Because if you weren’t willing to purchase the ST within the normal early bird window then what would have made you purchase one at a later date when the picture was even clearer that fans would not be attending?
Appreciate that this has been done to death and we are going round in circles. But whilst the club have made some really poor decisions over the past 12/18 months, some of the criticism seems misplaced to me. It seems to be from people who decided not to renew who now don’t like being given less of a priority than those who did. There’s no suggestion that the early bird window will be closed early so suggestions of the like only inflame the situation.

I kept the DD running so was able to use the on account funds, but if I was phase 2 I’d struggle to find the lump sump so would be reliant on a DD of some description.

**** me Rileybobs. I’m not criticising the club. Leisure started a poll. I answered. Him and someone else decided they’d chip in with a smug jibe about my honest response to his poll. If I’d known he was also offering advice and judgment on the responses I wouldn’t have bothered.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 11:16 amJust to add some balance to this, I thought that the club extended the early bird window - not closed it early? As for what the club did, yes they extended and then closed early. Yes, I was waiting to see if there was actually a season to watch at Turf Moor. If it was clear I could watch the 2020/21 season from inside TM, I would have renewed. If wasn’t clear by the time the deadline came around, I probably wouldn’t. As it turned out there never was a hard closure of any deadline so I never had that final decision to make.
I’m not asking for different terms or treatment. I’m just saying I’ll pay for my ticket in full on the final day of the deadline. That was the question Leisure set. I’ve done that for every ticket I’ve had.

Apologies if I misunderstood, it seemed like a dig at the club.agreenwood wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 11:55 am**** me Rileybobs. I’m not criticising the club. Leisure started a poll. I answered. As for the topic in hand. It seems that most of the responses so far have been from people who want to pay in full. But there will be a significant demand for a direct debit scheme and I’m sure that the club will offer something of the sort. Clearly they can’t firm up any details until the attendance situation next season becomes clear.

Apologies if my light-hearted quip has upset you. It certainly wasn't meant as a jibe - an insulting or mocking remark.agreenwood wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 11:55 am**** me Rileybobs. A DD facility is needed. Some cannot find the lump sum or may have different priorities after this last year.

Direct Debit it really is worth it, especially if it is able to run from season to season.

Would need a DD option.
Me and dad have taken it in turns to pay over the last few years, I would pay DD, dad would pay up front.
It's likely due to illness he has seen his last live game so DD for me it is, will be bitter sweet going back when we can seeing someone else in that seat, just got to hope the same people who we got to know so well are still in the same seats as pre March 2020.
