Hi.
I am doing a charity 72 hole golf challenge for prostate cancer on the 25th July at Drax Golf Club.
If anyone would like to sponsor me the link is below.
https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/draxgolfclub
Seemed a good idea at the time but now it's getting closer I'm wondering what I've done

Mods please feel free to remove if I'm not allowed to post this.
Thank you

Just walked 36 holes watching my stepson play at The Bears Club in Jupiter Florida. It was utterly exhausting but it was also in the mid 90’s. I walked 14 miles in the day. Good luck with your day. It’s a great effort for a good cause

Good luck,
Having done this myself nearly 40 years ago, what makes the day run smoothly is :
Start early, 4:30am latest.
Start round 2 within 30 mins of finishing round 1.
Lunch after round 2 and job nearly done.
Have a playing partner (or 4) for motivation and competition as this will stop you clock watching.
Keep a scorecard, it is good to look back when done.
Ensure your club reserve first tee start times for you.
And don't have a beer until completed, then do what you want.
It is a hugely satisfying day, enjoy. Good effort.

In school holidays I used to play 2 rounds a day, 5 days per week 6 weeks solid (apart from the annual week abroad). Nowadays Im knackered with one round when its a hot summers day and try to avoid playing on consecutive days.
Would love to have the energy to play 3 rounds so good luck and hope its a nice short and flat course to walk round

Thanks.
We are looking at a 4.30/5am tee off as a 4 ball. At least there will be some competition between us. Just hope I'm not hacking my way round for 72 holes.
Think we will also ask other members to let us through, last thing we want is a hold up.

Good luck mate. I've just played Conwy. Lovely links course but after 18 holes I'm a tad weary so 72 in one day is awesome from you. Cheers!

Thank you very much.
Not played Conwy but played Royal St. Davids and Aberdovey a couple of years ago. Great courses.
Thanks again and I will let you know how it goes.

What handicap did you get with that kind of dedication?

13 was lowest I ever got and play to about 18 now. Full of enthusiasm rather than talent

I play Royal St Davids (Harlech) each year in a golfing society 2 day event. This year it's the 24th-25th June. Lovely course and we actually stay in the clubhouse as they have five rooms available. Conwy was a warm up to get me back into links golf as my home course, Chester, is very much a parkland course. Once more good luck.

Morning,
Just to update I completed the 72 hole challenge yesterday.
First round started in the dark at 4:40am and I finally returned home at 19:00pm.
Enjoyable but tiring day, over 50,000 steps.
Big thank you for the donations and the advice received really helped us plan our day.
Thanks again

Well done. They had a similar "Longest Day" event here at Chester with some lady members doing the 72 holes. I was a tad bemused because it was a lovely sunny day, perfect for drying the washing so what they were doing on a golf course, I couldn't understand

I'm not sure I could afford enough golf balls to play 72 holes in a day. I certainly wouldn't be able to carry them all.
