Aren’t they good to watch? Always thought City were when Mancini was in charge.

Re: Today's Games
True but 29 games unbeaten, and now close to 10 wins in succession without conceding a goal does suggest they are a pretty decent side these days.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 9:29 pmso far they've played 2 of the worst teams in the tournament, not saying they aren't good, just saying we've no idea at this point

Re: Today's Games
oh I agree they are good, just not sure how good. Turkey and Switzerland have been pretty pathetic as opponents, scoring from outside the box is easy when nobody tackles. I don't know who they've played in those 29 games either. They'll go and win the whole thing now you watch

They have beaten two poor teams but they are looking very good. One of the teams I’ll be wanting to watch as the tournament progresses.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 9:29 pmso far they've played 2 of the worst teams in the tournament, not saying they aren't good, just saying we've no idea at this point

for sure, it's worth watching them for the national anthem sing-a-long alone!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 9:52 pmThey have beaten two poor teams but they are looking very good. One of the teams I’ll be wanting to watch as the tournament progresses.

The French were belting out La Marseillaise last night too.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 9:57 pmfor sure, it's worth watching them for the national anthem sing-a-long alone!
I was once at a Wales international at Wrexham. Unbelievable being in the middle of them when they sing.

We learned La Marseillaise when doing French 'A' level many years ago just for fun. A very impressive anthem but if you translate into English it's quite grisly and dark in places.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 10:05 pmThe French were belting out La Marseillaise last night too.

Ukraine-North Macedonia the afternoon offering.
And Ukraine finally make their pressure tell with the opening goal half an hour in, Yarmolenko with a tap in from a set piece.
2-0 Ukraine and they could fill their boots here.

Yes North Macedonia are spirited if nothing else, and they still have hope.
Whatever happens in the rest of their tournament they've certainly not disgraced themselves in this tough group.

Yes 4 out of 5 missed thus far, although NKD netted theirs on the rebound today, but some of the pens have been really poor for top class players.

1-0 to the Danes after a howler by Denayer, great finish from Poulsen though.

Re: Today's Games
Still 1-0 at HT, Denmark have been outstanding in that first 45, however you do wonder whether they can keep up this intensity, and surely Belgium will make changes given the ridiculous quality on their bench.
This match will give plenty of teams hope that you can get at Belgium's defence, the Danes have got in on numerous occasions, and arguably they could and should be even further ahead.

1-1 brilliant team goal from Belgium, but De Bruyne played a huge part in it as you'd expect.

Shocking dive rightly punished with yellow card

Re: Today's Games
Poor decision for me. The ref should have stopped play to book the diving Dutch player but allowed play to carry on which led to the Netherlands winning a pen.

Austria looking much better 2nd half, and The Netherlands may yet live to regret missing so many sitters in the 1st half.

Re: Today's Games
Absolutely! and there was one in the Ukraine game earlier which was similarly punished with a yellow, good to see, and it might deter this cheating later in the tournament if it's clamped down on in the early rounds.

Re: Today's Games
Not sure what to make of The Netherlands so far, they've had 2 good wins, but they haven't really been tested yet, and you feel their defence isn't as solid as it would be with VVD at it's heart.
Dumfries looks a useful player, but I still sense they lack a quality player to make the real difference when it gets to the business end of the competition.
Belgium, Italy & Netherlands breezing through with ease.

Sweden need a win against Slovakia to avoid having to depend on beating Poland in their last group game. I'm hoping the Czechs can thump Croatia to really put the pressure on the Scots. Should be an interesting day.

Re: Today's Games
Sweden-Slovakia should be a good game as both really need the 3 points, Spain you'd still expect to win that group, but they've put undue pressure on themselves by dropping points against the swedes in their 1st game, and the Spanish do have a history of self-destructing in tournaments when things aren't going well.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 7:04 amSweden need a win against Slovakia to avoid having to depend on beating Poland in their last group game. Croatia-Czech Republic is difficult to call, but I fancy the Czechs to edge it I just think they've got more up front than Croatia who looked toothless in the England game.
Ideal scenario for England is we ease through this evening, and then Gareth can ring the changes in the final group game should he wish.

Re: Today's Games
That’s a shocking decision
Re: Today's Games
Goodness! No way a penalty.
Re: Today's Games
Can see how it was given as arm was very high up and could be seen as dangerous play but won’t be given 7 times out of 10. I think Schick could do a job for us as a striker/ right winger.

way out of our price range, he cost Leverkusen 25 million from Roma, you can add at least another 10 to that now. Maybe we should put a bid in so Aston Villa can sign him

Hadn’t realised he cost so much. He’s not played that many club games anywhere. A great occasion tonight for Che Adams, playing at his national stadium. What an honour for the lad.
