Anthony Taylor

Now to be fair I've never rated him as a ref. However he's had three games so far this tournament and I actually think he's been superb. Reffed with sense, purpose, understanding and empathy.

Now here's the conundrum. Is that because he is now free of the shackles of the PGMOL directives and shackles? Free of the week to week matchday pressures, free of familiarity of teams and players in the top flight?
Perhaps we don't really have bad refs, but refs who are hamstrung with how the PL is run

I liked the way he didn’t fall for the Italian’s gamesmanship

There is no big 6 to manipulate into the top places.

Very daft statement. “Big six” are the “big six” because they’ve got most of the wealth and all the best players, but surely you know that…?

Taylor has been one of our worst refs but he has been far better in the Euros. The sooner we get rid of Mike Riley the better it will get - he is the issue

Ian has hit the nail on the head. The Premier league is full of idiot fans who think every ref is bias against their team and it is stoked up by managers who tend to blame the refs for their teams poor performances and further reinforced by the wall to wall coverage where to be relevant pundits need to be controversial.

The net result is a culture of blaming evrything on poor and even corrupt reffing

Put Taylor in a more sensible setting and of course you will suddenly think why cant he do that in the Premier league but if he reffed like this against Burnley a lot of you would find any little thing to get upset about and to give you the opinion he is rubbish

I don't believe that it is possible to include Jon Moss in the category of "hamstrung PL ref's"
He is hamstrung by the fact that he is simply bad and unable to keep up with the game IMO

I think the standard of refereeing is worsening although I admit every decision they make is scrutinised to a ridiculous level.
