German revenge?

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Fri Jul 02, 2021 8:05 am

Refs for saturdays game will of course be impartial… might as well have asked Stefan Kuntz and Jurgen Klinsmann to run the line!

I'm more concerned about them not sending us any Haribo.

Possibly the best referee in the world at the moment. VAR and goal line technology has taken away any chance of some of those we were robbed moments.
I hope PMGOL officials are taking note of the standard of refereeing at the tournament and how they refuse to blow up for engineered falls and ridiculous screaming.

Nail on the head there Siddo. This plague of diving and squealing is the main thing that needs removing from the game. An ability for physio’s to run on the pitch during play would be a start.

Mike Riley will be watching on and thinking he isn't having the rest of Europe show him how VAR should be used

It’s certainly blown out of the water the myth that UEFA want a non contact sport.
It’s been great to see them trying to let the game flow.

Not the greatest idea having a German ref and assistant refs. So far though the refereeing has been excellent and a real positive from the tournament. I wish the PL was refereed to this standard. Good use of VAR too.

Nothing to worry about

The standard has been really high all tournament

And if you wanted refs from a country that we haven't annoyed recently, then you are going to really struggle

I'm happy that one of the best refs in Europe is in charge on Saturday

I've just been through the second world war archives and can confirm that the RAF didn't bomb his great grandparents local chippie so there is a glimmer of hope .

100%.. been saying this all tournament. The worst refs in Europe for rewarding squealing and play acting are in the Premier League. All this 'there's contact, it's a foul' seems only to exist in England. The game actually seems more physical and dare I say, honest, in Europe now than in England.

Why?
Do we not want the best man for the job?

As someone who's long advocated it's the officials, not VAR that's the problem, I'm glad to be vindicated.
Lessons can, and should be learned, but the click that the refs association has become I doubt it. The self protectionism used to try and justify the most horrendous decisions, will last until this shower are kicked into touch.

I don' see what the issue is with this ref, if he's good at his job, which according to posters who know his history better than me he is then surely that's all that matters.

Totally agree on the petulant playacting, I can't recall the players, but there was a couple of incidents in the KO games where the guy went down with minimal contact, and yet amazingly once he'd seen the officials were playing on he made a remarkable recovery and got straight back to his feet.

This is a clear sign that the players in question were at it for want of a better phrase, and thankfully the refs didn't fall for their theatrics.

As others have rightly pointed out there's plenty the PL can learn from how the officials have conducted themselves in this tournament. unfortunately whether they'll take heed of that example is questionable, and we'll probably find ourselves subject to the usual shambolic refereeing once the PL resumes in August.

Diving and gymnastics should be reserved for the Olympics not PL football. And the sooner we eradicate this scourge from our game the better as far as I'm concerned.

I was shocked that we get Haribo from German when there is a massive plant near Pontefract on the way to Diggerland.

There's been a factory in Pontefract for years, in the town centre. I think it is still in use since they built the new one next to the M62, the factory shop is certainly still on the site.

Bugger! I only voted 'leave' to stop the influx of Haribos.

Well, we'll have to give them no chances to be biased.
