Not a bad setting for a football ground

Post by ClaretTony » Fri Jul 02, 2021 11:24 am

It's one of our partner grounds - St. Colman's Park, home of Cobh Ramblers. They've just agreed a 99 year lease on the ground.

Bet the groundsman was a bit dizzy after preparing that pitch

I've been to Cobh on a day trip from Cork when we were there in 2013 for the friendly. Would be good to go back and play both.

It's a lovely town - certainly well worth a visit if you are in that area. As RC2 says it was Titanic's last stop (then called Queenstown) before it's fateful journey over the Atlantic - the Cobh heritage centre there is well worth a visit if you are interested in the Titanic or emigration generally.

I've family in Cobh so been there many times.
Been in the club bar on the Ramblers, but sadly not on a match day.
For anyone who hasn't been its well worth a day out.
A night out around the pubs is even better 🤣

As a boy I remember seeing many of the great ocean liners there including Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth and Normandie the lovely French liner.
My brother was at a seminary there!!

We had lunch right next to the Titanic tour but we opted for the Heritage Centre & then out to Spike Island.

Some of our 80's and 90's defenders would have had the ball in the bay there after a clearance! (or a downfield pass!!!)

I met up with Tribesmen at a Rams v Galway match, the day after our last Cork City friendly. Can’t wait to get back on. New rules coming in over here and they are allowing up to 500 attendances.
Great photo btw.

Mrs Minnie keeps finding new jobs for me. Bought a new bike last year and I’ve hardly used it.
Hope everything is well with you and yours.

They are wonderful. We completed the Waterford one, as training for the Camino, and they are extending it Youghal to Midleton. Saw a piece on Tracks and Trails last week and they are intending to join up all the South Coast, from Wexford.

Minne , done a few of the greenways now , Mrs Tribes is getting used to her bike and can cycle around 40Kms in one go which is really good for her , sort of head off on Friday after work go camping and cycle the next day then back home on Sunday . Have to say the best one we have done is Mullranny to Achill , fantastic views around the coast . Down in Waterford in August for a cycle .

We are camping in Castlebar in August so we’ll have a look at the Achill one. Dates are flexible as eldest is coming over and currently would have to isolate for 5 days.
Contact me nearer and we’ll try to arrange a meet up.

Some beauties on here
This one reminded me of Rod Stewart getting in bother over watering his back garden pitch during a drought. Knock on the door from the old bill.
