Re: Summer Photographs
Thanks Minnie and Herts, it was a huge surprise to see the photo on the front page of such a major newspaper. This was an entry in the Irish Biodiversity Photographer of the year competition, and it won the people's vote, in a shortlist of 20 photos from over 1,000 entries. The photo also placed 2nd in the judges competition. Fortunately, it lost out to a photograph by Dazbfc, who won the overall prize with a great photograph of a duckling catching flies on a crystal clear pond in Kildare. 2 Burnley lads dominating one of the main photography competitions in Ireland...... properly amazing.

If he doesn't see this message Minnie (He posted 2 puffin pictures earlier on the thread) I will mention it to him when we're next in conversation...... whilst the England game was on last night, we were photographing some long eared owl chicks, so I am sure there will be photos to come from that session shortly too.

Re: Summer Photographs
Here you go minnieclaret.
Very shocked and thrilled to bring home first prize. Especially given the strong competition, as you can see from Dan's shot, which came second, won the public vote and got picked up for the front page of the Irish Times!

Not a particularly great photo but I recently found this charming fellow in my greenhouse. I gave him a piece of rotten wood and he seems happy enough. He's been in there for over a week now. I call him Bertie Beetle.
