I love that KRB and CFS are demanding written proof of this Man U interest but both have used the phrase “I can confirm” or “I have it as fact”

The pedigree of the player, he’s 24 and has played practically he whole career in a top league.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 12:11 amI'm genuinely wondering what makes him one of the biggest marquee signings and who were the others in your opinion for comparison.
Other players in comparison are Defour, Chris Wood, Jack Cork
All looked to have that next level that our usual signings didn’t.

Or perhaps United are interested in a 26/7 year old CB who has proven himself in the Premier League with Burnley.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 5:04 pmIf man United would have really wanted Collins, we wouldn’t have signed him it’s that simple there’s nothing complicated about it.

I watched a lot of him last year and no loss to us in my opinion.
Given we need a couple of wide pace and his dead ball abilities, I’d probably still take him. But he looked lightweight and lacked workrate from what I saw - just couldn’t see Dyche trusting him.
Brentford would be a good move for him and bring him on.

It sounds like Leeds wanted Cornet to play left back for them but they’ve signed Firpo from Barcelona for that role now.

I screamed when I heard we might be in for Cornet. It brought music to my ears…

Cornet would be a superb signing , he cause multitude of problems against city in the champions league a few seasons back, I’m pretty sure he scored too.

If Manchester United were really interested in signing Collins we wouldn’t have had a sniff, if you & some others are unwilling to embrace reality & accept fact, you are in delusion, Manchester United didn’t want Collins because he wasn’t deemed good enough for them that’s not to say he won’t be a good enough player for us or he won’t develop in later life to be a good enough player for Manchester United, it’s not football manager it’s REALITY FACT.Claret_tinted wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 7:32 amOr perhaps United are interested in a 26/7 year old CB who has proven himself in the Premier League with Burnley.

Position we don’t need?!?!
He’s a winger, quick and creative - exactly what we do need.

That depends. If McNeil goes to Villa (And they seem very keen.) then it's a position we'll need to fill. Lot's of swings and roundabouts to play on before the window shuts.

Cornet’s wiki page has him now as a LB, after starting as a winger. I’d still have him but he’s coming in to start which worries me.

Seems good business to me, mcneil to villa 40m, cornet to us 15m. Mcneil good player of course, few tricks up his sleeve, chips in with a goal or 2, but not particularly pacy, cornet from what I'm gathering has some pace, and potentially more goals. Get this deal done, money to play with for other positions, mcneil will likely go next season if not this, seems a no brainer to me.

Surprised with the BPF news. Must have someone else lined up other than Hennessey.

51 goals is a pretty decent return for a left back in any league.minnieclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:52 amCornet’s wiki page has him now as a LB, after starting as a winger. I’d still have him but he’s coming in to start which worries me.

As for being worried, I wouldn't be. If McNeil goes to Villa (For a lot of money.) then we will have more to spend in other areas that need strengthening. It's not all about one position, or one player. It's the overall improvement of the squad.

Of course, but either way would seem a good acquisition, but agreed a bit worrying if he's being eyed as a left back, maybe to step in as pieters is out of contract, having ability to play in both positions, and his goal threat.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:57 amI mentioned this earlier but he only played LB last season. He's the one that played, and scored against Man City for Lyon:

He’s played his whole career on either wing. This last season he was dropped into a LWB position when Lyon moved to a 5-3-2 formation

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I agree that he would be a good aquisition, especially if he can also play on the right. If Villa are prepared to pay 40 to £50 million for McNeill, I'd snap their hand off. We could strengthen in several areas with the proceeds.alwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 11:05 amOf course, but either way would seem a good acquisition, but agreed a bit worrying if he's being eyed as a left back, maybe to step in as pieters is out of contract, having ability to play in both positions, and his goal threat.

Interesting that Nixon says we're trying to move out Peacock-Farrell. Confirms our suspicions that Dyche has seen enough of him.
Cornet is a very interesting link too. He was playing the Champions League not so long ago. Doesn't strike me as someone Dyche would typically look to.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
If he only plays on the left we don't need him, if he can play in the right then 100% we need him but I've only seen him mentioned on the left wing and at left back if that's true then we have both coveredIloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:41 amPosition we don’t need?!?!

Would much prefer to loan him to them for a season and see how he fairs with a full season of Championship football behind him.
That or a buy back / hefty sell on clause. There’s definitely a decent player in there.
Failing that could we do a John Travolta / Nicholas Cage face off switch and send them Dale Stephens instead??

Agree though - not sure it’s worth our while selling a player for £650k when it’s an area we have limited numbers.

The one thing with selling any young players, Cooney being an example, is that we will be ensuring there are good sell on clauses in the deal.Top Claret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 12:35 pmThink it would be good buisness for us to get 650k for Benson, from what I have seen of him he is miles of being a premier league player

I really hope we don’t sell Dwight this summer - we need our experienced PL players, plus I expect Dwight will have an excellent season and only increase his value - but we do need to have his replacement in the building and able cover if he gets injured. We’ve been very lucky that he’s managed to play so many games over recent seasons.
